View Full Version : Anybody just love their bike?

OK, so Ive only had the ZX14 five months, but hell do I love this bike  Out of all the bikes we have had in the past 2 1/5 years, (and the Ks we have done, me 65,000) nothing puts a smile on my face more than my 14 has, ever. I just love my bike. Thats it. Everything about it is fantastic. Sure its not the perfect bike in the world, what is? But everytime I ride it, and ride something else, I cant imagine what I would replace it with. So its not like Im not comparing it to other bikes, I most definately am and in real riding terms too, but this is the one. Does anyone else love their bike to ride as much as I do? (I still admire more astetically pleasing bikes than mine, hell I had an Aprillia for looks, not the 14).

yeah just dusted off all the crap of my old girl today & went for a spin to the shops. What a nice feeling - and the sound. Told my wife my bike will be 20yrs old next year & she with a smart smile said we should give it a birthday party. Well that sowed a seed...

I share my affection with a few old whores. Each has a trait I like but all are dirty wee slappers when it comes down to it. Each one has a few scares and all could tell a few tales if they could.

That's awesome Unit, very nice to hear someone loving their bike to bits!!!:sunny:
Went out for a spin on my Hornet today, and I'm with you on the bike loving. I had just started to get a little bored with it and was starting to want to ride the hubby's Gixer around, but after I had the front sprocket changed it's made it ride like a real 900cc bike, so much fun, and I'm loving it again and no longer want to ride the Gixer (oh ok, maybe on the track!).
Top stuff chick!:woohoo:

Yep! I loved the old GSX-F600 despite its shortcomings, but the Boulevard is teh best bike I have ever owned. of course it's the newest and the first new bike so it should be, but it's different from any other bike I've owned and both the wife and I can't think of anything else we'd like.

It's good that you've found a bike that fits you so well. Some people can spend months or even years trying to do that. I had a gs1000 in the early eighties that I felt that way about, but really never had it since.
The bike I've got now is alright, but doesn't have that special factor.
I could easily sell it tomorrow and look for something else.:niceone:

We have a great balance in our house. I love my bike so much want to do 100,000kms on it, just to tick that box, and Chris loves to test own as many bikes as there is variety, so we get the best of both worlds in our garage, always spoiled for choice (especially when the flatmate changes his bike too, its awesome).

I feel exactly the same about Betty.
Perhaps it's that magic fourteen hundred cubic centimetre displacement figure that's doing it for us?
My sole bother with Betty is the knowledge that by the time she's worn out, Suzuki won't still be making GSX1400s, so I won't be able to replace her with another one.

If you swapped all the words: "ZX14: bike, bikes" for the word "DMNTD",would that still be true?
Well you know the next thing you should trade in!

I was surposed to click over 100,000 on this trip this weekend bit it might be a couple of times round the block when I get home to run it to the mark. It is about 380k to home and I am on 99510 now. Hope it is a fine day tomorrow and we might get lost for a little while

It wasnt love at 1st sight for me,but its love now for sure....I wasnt looking for a new one but she sort of fell into my lap & was cheap & she's been giving me my jollies ever since. Before she arrived, I was kinda bored with the old girl, couldnt get it up enough to want to ride her much & when I did I just had to keep thrashin' her to get her to perform & then I always felt unfulfilled afterwards....
Not so now!! I pamper the new one, spend lots on her as she likes to drink, make sure she's always freshly lubed & she likes high quality rubber goods.Myself, well I discovered that I like expensive black leather & we count down the days to when we can meet up with others of the same 'bent' @ Ruapuna & get into some serious flogging:spanking:

I love my gixer. Love in this context isn't like loving ice cream, it's more like that obsessive sick sort of love. I've ridden new bikes (K3 - 7, CBR1000, Aprillia RSV's etc etc), and I always get on my scoot and breathe a sigh of relief - old friend. She is more expensive than a beautiful bitch mistress to live with. She's rasty and horrid on bad gas.
We may be disfunctional (well, I am), she may be the one who does all the work out on the road - but, somehow it all fits together just right.
Don't even get me started on my CBX1000. It's beyond obsessive and sick...

I absolutly love my rs250. Iv had afew bikes (not as many as some people on here) but i just love the feeling of riding an italian. There not the most practicle and they need loads of work, but they just have such a character.
My next bike will be something abit more sensible and suitable for taking a pillion (vfr or something similar), but i will keep my lil rs, just for the odd throw over the tukas and for a thrash for shits and giggles (untill i can afford a duc or mv to replace it anyway).

I love my Gixxer because she doesn't give me sore wrists or ass, like my last couple of bikes and my darling Sharon actually enjoys the pillion seat so we can cover distances between fills without saddle sorenss demanding we stop every half an hour.
She's (the Gixxer) an old beast and fairly simple in her ways...

I love my bike.
I went from "roarrr! kawasaki! team green!" fanboy, and did a complete 180 to whatever bike I was looking at after test riding my current bike 'just for fun' only to find out that it was the best bike I had ever ridden after numerous test rides of other 'more practical' bikes. Threw me off that's for damn sure..
....because it's a Honda!!
I still love Kawasaki, they're my #1. I'll be a kwaka fanboy for life and maybe when I win lotto I'll have a second bike as a kwaka, but for now.. I just love my bike to bits.

Ayup! Coulda done tole ya that before you started.
The only bling Betty will be getting (apart from a new muffler) (well, and Penske shocks, if that counts as bling) is the removal of the stock mirrors and the installation of a pair of CRG bar-end mirrors. Bewdyful. Realised it was precisely what she needed after spending a day at the track with both mirrors off. It was a huge aesthetic improvement.
My new mirrors are currently on order and will presumably arrive from the UK sometime shortly before the End of Days, etc.

My affair with her began 5 years ago, and she has already seen the demise of a wife! The wife was Jealous of the bike :gob:
Today , between all the horse power, roaring V twins, potatoing harleys, shinny trumpets , there was Mr Harris Pipes himself with his mobile Dyno tune.
Well another reason I love my bike was there in black and white, no bullshit!

She is nothing special, not fast, not flash, not pricey, not a classic... But still get a better buzz on my bike than on a mates prettier faster machine.
Took a Triumph Classic out for a nice wee ride (of course, this was on a closed road.....) and that was awesome but the buzz of "She's mine" works for me.
I love the fact that if/ when I bin her, replacement parts are cheap as chips, modifications can be made in the garage at home, repair can be done at home too, and I only need to carry a monkey wrench, gaffer tape and a knife and I can perform roadside surgery on her!!!! Talk about freedom and independance!
PS. I haven't had to break out the operating tools yet on the roadside, but nice to know I'm prepared when out of phone reception!

The day I bought the Duc, and took it for it's first ride - it became mine for life. :2thumbsup I may own other things, but I'll always keep the 'clattery. Even if the old girls lookin a bit patchy at the moment... :(

Nup.
I don't think I do love my bike.
There are times when I walk past it parked at work, or it's sitting in the gargre, and I think, "Man! That's a nice looking bike!"
Or I'm riding, everything clicks, and I'm really enjoying it.
Or I fit another farkle, or fix summat, and I feel very satisfied.
Or the sound of the Satantune makes me go, "Oh yeah!!"
But it doesn't quite feel like love.

I do ...she looks sexy, sounds sexy, and handles so very nicely.
Which in itself is worrisome as I will have to let her go at some stage :( (need more power, I do )
But I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

Ehem...ER6N :shifty:
yes I know, I know...my little heart is pounding fiercely (and well, something else too if I'm honnest :p) when I set my eyes upon a Street Triple
And I sat on one, and started the engine, and I...I...oh drats! I liked it ok?!
The thing is, it will very much depend on test rides' results anyway...Jafar's been bugging me about a FZ6 for a while too.

It's good that you've found a bike that fits you so well. Some people can spend months or even years trying to do that. I had a gs1000 in the early eighties that I felt that way about, but really never had it since.
The bike I've got now is alright, but doesn't have that special factor.
I could easily sell it tomorrow and look for something else.:niceone:
really.
my ER6n is great, my favorite bike so far

I am more in love with my bike than I have ever been before with any other bike. I am a Gixxer nut, I have owned 7 bikes one was an RGV250 & my race bike is a CBR600(with gixxer fairings) and the rest have been Gixxers. My current bike is a 750 k6 and she is now part of me (my demon side) she understands me and I respect her, she knows how to push my buttons and makes me do things I didn't think I could do!:nono: GOD I LOVE HER!!!!:first:

Ok look, I promise...when I am ready to upgrade, I will test ride the ER6n, and definitely consider it as an option.
But she'd have to be a pretty friggin' awesomely handling little number as I'm really lusting after the Triple.

I feel exactly the same way about mine!!!!

My unique motorcyclist superpower of pontificating on bikes that I haven't ridden allows me to assure you that the Street Triple is certainly superior.
Buy one post-VTR, and I strongly suspect that you will be learning the boys with many learns in no time flat.

 weeeell, I don't know about giving anyone the learn...if I can just keep up, I'll be plenty happy.
However, much research ( and my very scientific gut feeling) have given me this opinion too. The only reason I am forcing myself to keep an open mind is the fact I have not test ridden any bigger bikes at this stage.
You can't be too careful, eh?:niceone:

You are truly unique Mr gijoe, if only all of us could live in a fantasy world just like yours, as we go about our lives in the real world in the same dedicated fashion you do, we would be such a happy bunch :2thumbsup
Hell yes! Adore my bike
Just been in the shed giving her a bit of slap n tickle
O.K. then, glad this isnt a family show
I love my Gixxer She's an old beast and fairly simple in her ways...
Often the best sort, they obviously got it right when they rolled your bike out
