Heh, i was just having a look around aprilia's site and a thought hit me, where are all the 125cc two strokes? On further inspection, it seems Derbi make a GPR125 two smoker and the Cagiva mito is still in production.

I reckon they would probably be around the 8k mark, I know mt eden used to bring in RS125's brand new, do yooz fulla's know what they were retailed at?

bikepoint.co.nz is not being helpfull, mt eden website also doesn't show the rs125 as stocked any more :(

All of the above bikes are putting out around 33 HP at the crank, have 6 speed gearboxes, USD forks, brembo brakes and are really light.

It would be a perfect bike to blast around the twisties on :yes: Sure it would be slightly more expensive than a Ninja 250 or a GT250R, but its just so damn sexy!

All have pre-mix oil aswell, so dealers would have little problem educating people on the art of two stoke... "Make sure oil is in there, if there is no oil in there, you are fucked"

And also, why haven't suzuki thrown the DR250 donk into a road frame and made millions? If they was lazy they could just do hyobags trick and throw it into a SV650 frame...

Ah yeah, and a top speed of 190 (indicated, on the aprilia at least) should be more than enough to keep people occupied for a couple years till they get their full

(and people make 165cc big bore kits and other go fast things)

Errr... I think they have, and you own one. It's called a GN250 :laugh:

Sorry dude, not a dr250 donk :P Different engine. And the gn has ceased production has it not? Which means our only learner offerings from suzuki are the dr250 dual sprot and the VL250 cruiser... Essentially the learner market needs another GN, cheap, solid.

Owned a mito in the uk, they are AWSOME little bikes, and ya, would give the stock hyo n new kwaka a good run for their $$$. Mito has the advantage over the other two in IMHO for 2 reasons 1.It looks like a ducati! and 2. It has a steering damper in the same place as the duc's which helps on such a light bike!!

There is also a new Yamaha 125 on the market in europe, dead ringer R6/R1 mini look-a-like, very nice, reckon they should do a 250 too, they would'nt be able to build enough of them.

Yes it is -- same engine as SP250, GZ250, and the early 80s DR250.

Who cares about NZ learner market? Manufacturers sure as hell don't. Our requirements are weird and unique.

The new Yamaha 125, like the CBR125, is a four-stroke single. Lots of fun, but not quite the performance of a Mito or RS125

True that, i thought you meant that a 2005 gn250 has a 2005 dr250 engine, oops

A 250 single will sure as hell fit into UK's learner market, but the point was, there are so many tasty two stroke 125's about, why does no one bring em in?

Heck, one of those would be an awesome base for a hybrid, chuck a big single in it, YEEEEE HAAAAAAAA!!!!!

Gotta be fun though, the RS125 is one of the sexiest bikes I've seen before.

Yamaha still makes a TZR125 for the road aswell

i had been looking for a rs125 for ages waaay to expensive for me to buy new but found sweet 96 for 4k
