In the last series White Stig was lost - abducted by aliens, the ship takes off at high speed and crashes into the sun. They have a new red Stig in the new season.....inside sources say it is Micheal Schumacher.

I've always said that from the start..
no one is as lanky as Hill, and he's gone quite quiet in the motorsport scene too
Motu, not seen/heard of any red stig yet, and I've just finished watching the latest season. Waiting on them to air S11 in the UK now.. S10 is very funny to watch..

That's because Perry couldn't keep his mouth shut and started telling people about his alter ego, so they fired him.
I doubt Schumi is it, but they have used Johnny Herbert's Buckinghamshire Go-Kart track quite a lot.
Damon Hill is massively ADHD and has a Down Syndrome son. He spends a LOT of time doing work for chariteee. He plays a lot of golf and does quite a bit of classic car "racing" and hill climbs. Rumour has it he's been racing classic bikes too.

He raced RD350s before he raced cars.

Yeah, I've heard Mansell mentioned several times. But he's always struggled with his weight, and the last I saw of him he was a real chubby bugger.

Both Damon Hill and Nigel Mansell would have completely dwarfed The Hampster and I don't recall the Stig being that big a fella - especially folding them into the driving seats of some of the smaller European sports cars.
Prolly one of the big teams' test drivers or an ex TOCA driver.
But who cares really? It's just a part of the show.

Since "Top Gear"'s relaunch in 2002 with Clarkson, May and the Hamster there have been two "Stigs". The first Stig wore a black racing suit and was known as "Black Stig". This Stig was played by F1 driver Perry McCarthy, who revealed his identity in his book "Flat Out, Flat Broke" and was then subsequently "killed off" at the start of series three when he was seen to drive very fast off the flight deck of an aircraft carrier and not stop in time. Whether the two events are connected is unknown, but it is quite likely that the Top Gear producers were not happy at his revelation.
From this point onwards the new Stig wore white duds and was known as "White Stig". It is the identity of this newer Stig that remains shrouded in mystery. Many people believe that "White Stig" is not one particular F1 test driver but several, depending on who is available on any given day for filming. This theory is given added weight by the recent Winter Olympics special when the driver performing the ski-jump stunt, ostensibly "The Stig" was later revealed by local Swedish newspapers to be a local snowmobile cross driver. Various F1 drivers have appeared on the show in the "star in a reasonably priced car" segment, and all have denied being the Stig or evaded the question such as Damon Hill. The current theory as espoused by "Daily Express" is that F1 driver Julian Bailey is the Stig, but no-one really knows. That's the whole point!

It's not Julian in that helmet.

The Stig is Ben Collins. He has appeared numerous times "in person" on Top Gear.

OK its not proof but that is pretty much common knowledge . And yes there have been others Ben Collins is the main man.

Good observation there Jim. Just been doing a few searches and there is so much speculation as to who the Stig actually is or is'nt that i guess it will remain a mystery for some time yet. All will be revealed one day. Perhaps we should be putting a few bets on it.

another thing, I wouldn't go by his family featured on some of the shows either, like Stig's fatter American cousin, and Stig's South African black cousin.. doesn't help the guessing

You can tell they are not always using same person.
i have most of the series on avi format, and you can tell the different driving styles, even tho meant to be same stig.
