Driving over the Station Rd overbridge this afternoon in Manure-wa, I spotted a woman (I am assuming the tot's mum) standing at the crest of the bridge waiting to dash across to the other side. This is not a wide section of the road I might add. She was just out of view on my side (as this bridge has a bit of a bend in it) so I only saw her as I started following round to the left, and i nearly had a heart attack when I saw the stroller (that yes, her little one was sitting in) was on the friggin road! Here she is standing on the relative safety of the footpath while her wee kiddie was potential road kill! I gave her the "what the hell....." look as I drove slowly past and she just looked straight through me. Anyone coming over that bridge at speed could easily have clipped that stroller and we'd have had some biased news report on the telly that night about a kid being struck by some (unspoken implication here) reckless driver. Sheeeesh! Where was this woman's brain?

Manure-wa... Sheeeesh! Where was this woman's brain?
You answered your own question.
A lateral thinker pondering South Auckland might chance upon an easy solution to 67.3% of NZ's social problems:

yep see it all the time too, i remember back to when i walked my kids around in the pram/stroller, always made a point of having it right beside me at the crossings etc, just cant understand why people, not just the mums keep the pram out in front literally on the road whilst they stand safely behind it.
Some people grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Imagine having a photo of this incident and showing it to the toddler when he/she is an adult and wondering what they would think of how their safety was always forefront in their mum's mind.

Kinda puts my cocaine addict, alcoholic, promiscuious birth mother, who was popping us out when she was 14, into perspective.

It's obvious what this mother's reasons were: she wanted to start an inane rant on an online motorcycle forum.
She has succeeded famously. Bless her.

It symbolises an overweight person absconding with an armload of goodies, thus accurately encapsulating the primary role of WINZ.

I thought the "sunshine" was supposed to represent a baby.
The lady is dancing because the baby has brought her money, rent, and other "living allowances".
She's fat for two reasons: a) because shes spending the money on herself not the baby. and b) shes just got impregnated again so she can get more money, rent, and "living allowances".

She doesn't need tits, someone else will look after sunshine once she's collected her "allowances".

You misunderstand. It would have been *designed* by a committee of public servants. It is culturally inclusive and gender-neutral. It's still crap though.
