Hi all, I am looking at buying a Honda CB750 from someone I know. It's a 1992, 32'000 km, hasn't been run for a year, so no reg or wof. It has been kept in a garage, never been dropped and in realy good condition, can't run it though, flat battery. We have no idea what it is worth, so your input is apperciated. Also, after one year, what should we do before firing it up, oil change.... ? Thank, Rick.

Also remember, if it's rego has lapsed, there's the cost of revinning it before you can re-register it. About $300, from what I've heard.

Could be a bargaining chip...

If it hasn't been run for a year, would it be worth squirting a little oil down the sparkplug holes and turning it over before running it? :spudwhat:

The carbs are going to be a bit sad, so they'll need a thorough cleaning, and the tank should be drained and refilled with fresh petroleum distillates.

Y'reckon $5k, Jackrat? I wouldn't pay that much. If you can get it going and it seems to be alright, I'd go with Bonez's suggestion of starting at $3000 and working from there.

You probably don't need to put engine oil into the pots, spray a little crc or wd40. Just remember that it will hard enough to start anyway, you don't want to be filling it with oil (that's what I did and it was a bitch to start, but then again my bike was sitting for 5 years and it was probably necessary).

Thanks for your input guys. I will take your advice onboard, I doubt if he will accept $3000, but it's a staring point.

But it sounds like it will be a great bike. Do give it a complete service and clean. Did the same to mine after getting it after it had been sitting and now I get people wanting to buy it. Too bad for them as I've become rather attached to it :gob:
