I've gotta face reality, I'm never gonna have the time to get this Ninja back on the road and I've got a better project I'd like to work on anyway. I see two options:
1) Sell it. Its in bits but all there. 3 sets of carburettors, 2 engines (bought one from a crashed bike, heard it running and bought the lot - carbs, coils, cdi, the lot - that engine may have some internal damage to the gearbox though). Nothing's been running in a fair while.
The problem symptoms: Idles fine, but if you open up the throttle it quickly leans out and stalls. I've never figured it out, after throwing the new engine in there (same electrics) same problem persisted, swapping electrical parts didn't seem to help. Probably something stupidly simple I'm overlooking, but I've pulled it apart several times now and I'm sick of it...as far as I'm concerned Amateur Hour is over.
All fairings, spare headers, exhaust. Rough enough condition, but serviceable. Clutch kit included if I can find it. Rego on hold. Asking $1400 ono, inspection and negotiation welcome, Botany Downs area.
2) Pay someone to take it on as a project. I'm a student and this is going to be a heavy year for me, not much time to tackle it myself or put in enough work hours to pay a professional workshop to fix it. I'm estimating that it can be ready for a WOF and smooth running with about 15 hours straight out work - so I'm offering $400 if completed within one month (works out to $26/hr), $200 if within 2 months ($13.30/hr), $100 if over two months and pro rata in between, parts to be provided or paid for by me. Another Auckland student with a little more time on their hands would probably love this, its all at your own pace and hours.
Anyone interested in either option?
