Alright now.. Wild West Honda in New Lynn is my local bikey store and i've bought a few things off these guys, but I gotta say. These guys are absolutely useless..

The third time in a row now i've ordered something and when I call back in a couple of weeks later, they've completely lost all evidence that i ordered it at all!

This is getting real old real fast so i'm now on a quest to find a different bike store..

I was talking to then the other day about the lack of bikes in their store, and they are just not getting the bikes through from the suppliers. Might be the same with the other stuff as they are new and still getting established?

The workshop is good though - I'll be taking the ole' lady for her third service there this month and very happy with previous work.

Before they moved I liked dealing with Haldanes, but haven't tried them since. Would not give coleman's suzuki my custom due to their attitude, unless I had to.

I've had work done there and have to say good price and good service...never had a problem ordering parts.

That said a mate of mine ordered something (can't remember what now) and they hadn't ordered it, but sorted it out and it turned up the next working day.

I know what you mean, service is slow. I try to still give them as much of my business as possible (bought my Hornet from them recently and some other gear), but when it comes to pricing and accessories you best not be in a hurry!

Problem is that most other bike stores are not much better unfortunately...

I unfortunately have to agree with this thread. Got them to do some work on my bike. Kept getting delayed etc. Got my bike back(bonus) but the problems not fixed and no record of what they had done.
They generously emptied my wallet and I was on my may(on the trailer)

Took my bike to AMPS. It was done in one day and for an excellent price.
Hasn't skipped a beat since then:2thumbsup

Interesting... I was just there today. Needed to adjust my chain before MotoTT trackday in Taupo tomorrow but I don't have the right size socket at home.

Popped in.. "You guys got 5mins to adjust my chain?"

No worries at all.

Between that, being closer to home than Cyclespot and having a loaner bike they'll get my 6000km service.

No idea about parts but I'll find out if I order the pillion seat cowl through them.

Will try to remember to report back on how the service goes.

My only experience is 6mo back when i popped in to get new front bearings for the gixxer. They were unable to fit me in for a couple days so I ended up finding Adam at henderson motorcycles (completely stoked with Adam - straight up, fair price, accomodating). I got the feeling that WW were a great outfit and I really want to support my local - just need to give them more time i spose. THey do seem like really good guys.

Oh they're definately a great bunch of people down there, that's why I kept giving them the benefit of the doubt and kept on returning.

But I just haven't received much good when it comes to ordering parts..

Also, if your bike is more than 10yrs old, it is a case of "fuck off, we don't want to know you".:(

I got the same from Coleman's Suzuki ... and the bike was originally bought from there and had a long service history there (OK - not by me, but still ... )

True story from 6 months ago.

Me: "I'd like to book in a service for my ZXR"
Colemans: "We've got a 2-3 week wait at the moment"
Me: "mm ok"
Colemans: "Oh, did you buy it from us?"
Me: "Ahh no.."
Colemans: "Ahhhhh actually we probably wouldn't look at it then.. You should try Red Baron. They're just down Gt North Road"

I actually wanted the cam chain tensioner looked as well so it was a decent bit of cash they missed out on. Red Baron were great on the other hand. Booked in that day, sorted the cam chain tensioner with minimal parts.

OK, update: 10 days asked Wild West Honda for a price on some braided brake lines, front sprocket and air filter. I have rung a further 2 times asking if a price is known yet. "I'll call you back shortly".

Stuff it - I'm going to Cycletreads today. I don't beg retailers for the privallege to spend my money in their store - it's the other way around.

Hmm. Strange how they always have a "two week wait". This has been going on for quite a while now...

I wonder if they would appreciate a "two week wait" for payment?

Mate, the person I'm trying to get these quotes from is the OWNER! I can't go any higher than that, and there's no point in complaining to his employees about their boss...!

Anyway, Cycletreads fitted front braided lines this morning for $200 and I have ordered the other parts from them (arriving Monday).

Gave me a mint little loan bike to use which they didnt have to but very apreciated by me. Not something they do usually I know

It never ceases to amaze me that Colemans are still in business.

Their service department has been carrying a bad attitude since the late 90s.

Yep I'll never forget being told they wouldn't service my 250 unless I bought it from them and that I should try Red Baron.

+1 from me

Mark in parts has addressed me by name since the 2nd visit.

Needed some suzuki parts - have part numbers from a Fiche

Call Haldanes, Felt like i had interrupted his day to find out whether they were available - Asked for my number - No response

Call Colemans - Yeah they're they're in the country we'll get them in. Be here Friday. Call Fri - No one knows anything about any order. Got them in finally and bike sorted.

When it comes to getting a new bike I won't be frequenting the above shops. Even when I win lotto and go buy a Duc Streetfighter complete with new mirrors and clutch/brake reservours)

I know that this is "bike shop" beatup but if I offered my customers the same service I'd be on my bike. (excuse the pun) I guess if you're a regular you'll get better service but it's hard to want to be a regular if you don't get half decent service.

Botany Honda
1 Danny or Josh for parts,
2 John and Paul, workshop.
3 Richard and Dave sales

The only problem I have is John is always giving me shit about changing to the Buell

I agree with Oldguy.

Botany Honda has always been great in sourcing in parts and also on being able to schedule a bike service within a short time frame (e.g. a week).

For straight forward service on occasions they have even organised to do the service 'while you wait' as I was happy to hang out for an hour in the shop.

Hi yes have looked at that store before, i would seriously recommend Cycelspot on the shore in Barrys point road. They know their bikes inside out and they have never let me down with service and arts etc etc

Yeah good service from Botany , Richard mcF is always good too ( he`s a good guy to talk to when your day is just shit)and I`m not even buying a bike, John from the workshop has awesome knowledge too.

Hows` the Buell going John? you used to look like you loved the VTR.

Same thing happened to me same bike too. Pretty much got told to piss of and go to redbaron. Couldn't even spare 30 secs to give me an idea of the problem with my bike. Botany Honda, Mt Eden Motorcycles and Red Baron have all given me a few minutes of their time to help out. Also tried to get a wof but got the same thing. Wouldn't buy my next bike from them.

However had to pick up a part for a mate from Colemans, they gave him the wrong part at first but got the right part in a few days later.

Botany Honda are real helpful in all departments.

Yeah I do miss it at times, some of the boys, on the SATN Ride, reckon I was faster on the VTR then on the Buell go figure.

The Boys at Botany Honda, are a good lot.

It's funny some people like a place and some don't. I stopped in at Botany Honda and saw a helmet I liked. They had no brochures on other graphic options, knew bugger all about the product and weren't keen to get the info.

So I told the guy I wanted one and could he get the two graphic options in on appro and I'll call in and choose one. His eyes light up and he says "yep". He phones the distributor and checks. It's all good and tells me he'll have the helmets there in two days and to call in. It happens I'm riding out on that day so i tell him I'll call in and be off on the road.

I call in two days later and meet the same guy.
"I'm here to look at the helmet you got in for me"
"Oh yeah, no I didn't get them in"
"What do you mean you didn't get them in... they just haven't arrived yet?"
"No I didn't ask for them to be dropped off"
"But we spoke two days ago and you said you get them in and have them here"
"Yeah, but we can't do a discount on those helmets so I didn't get them."

I'm thinking... what? are you serious. I never spoke to you about a discount? I wanted to buy that helmet.

"Mate I just wanted to buy the helmet!"
"so you're okay if we can't do a discount?"
"What? I just want to buy the helemt. You've just jerked me around and wasted my time I'll go and buy the helmet elsewhere. Do you know who else stocks it?"
"Yes AMPS, but I can still get it in for you"
"You're kidding right?"

To this day I still don't understand what was going through that guys brain. Was he thinking that because he couldn't discount it and that's what he would want that therefore I wouldn't want it so he wouldn't even bother getting it on appro.

I've never bought anything from Botany Honda since and wouldn't bother.

My stores of choice are "Motomail", "Cycletreads" and "Haldanes".

If the guy at Botany Honda had looked at things from a customer point of view he'd have sold a high end helmet. To this day I still can't believe the guy not getting the helmet in when I told him I wanted one. And then having my number not even calling me to let me know he changed his mind.

I bought the odd bit of gear here and there from Botany Honda and they were O.K (in terms of service) but not wonderful. But as soon as I bought a new Triumph though they packed a sad and practically snobbed me every time I went in the shop...fuckem - only interested in you if they can flogg you an overpriced Jappa.

I flirted with them again after my bike got written off (whilst all the time knowing I'd be getting another Striple). Other than the Fireblade Honda's got nothing

Wild West were a different story though - All good in my experience

MY mate ha da pretty terrible experience with them... took bike in for a tune and service, got it back and it was FUCKED, was riding real shit. Took it back to them and they said oh, this is wrong, you'll need this and it'll cost this much.

Anyway, long story short, he had to take it back to them 4 times, they tried to cover their fuck up after charging him a shitload for their mistake in the first place.

Decided to fix it all himself in the end... turned out they had connected the spark plug cables wrong so the timing was all out. He ended up getting half the cash back off them... should have been all of it though.
