I just got the bike and car rego bill in the mail! $400 all up!

Did a bit of math :woohoo: to work out just how much more expensive it is to do the 3/6month thing instead of 12.

For the cage :
12 months : $183.22 @ $15/month
6 months : $ 95.39 @ $15.98/month
3 months : $ 51.50 @ $17.16/month

For the Bike :
12 months : $224.28 @ $18.69/month
6 months : $115.92 @ $19.32/month
3 months : $ 61.76 @ $20.58/month

So what do you do? 12, 6, or 3 months?

it is expensive - but there is not much you can do in way of other options. I just take the hit as part of the cost of biking and forget about it.

edit - Voted 6 monthly

Split the two.....pay 6mths for the car and 12 for the bike, that way it wont happen again. Thought that would have been easy to work out?...

I pay for all the vehicles 12 months at a time ... that way I only have to remember then once I year.

Laziness dictates that I always go for 12 months for both. Who can be bothered doing a job twice if you can do it once?

I never know if my shitter of a bike will pass the next warrant, so I always do only six months at the same time as the warrant.

Once you have got a WOF register your bike for 12 months and then you don't have to worry about a new wof for a year.FTP:Police::banana:

If caught by the 5-0 or a parking warden? - No WOF =$200

Just so's those that think it's a simple fool-proof cunning plan to save money...

It's alright scumdog but I don't stop long enough to park and my bike's too slow to worry the 5.0:whistle:

Don't have the cashflow to afford 12 months rego at once. It is kinida like rego on the drip.
I don't think I can afford to live in NZ anymore...

For those of ya who "winter" ya bikes when its snowing out
ONE way of saving rego costs is to put the rego on hold for 3 months-12 months --costs nothing saves ya registering the bike for those months.

Of course the cynic in me says -suspend rego 6 months at a go -as long as the bike has current WOF if the 5 ohh :Police: pull ya over you've got a good chance of getting off with the -oops I forgot its suspended -then nip in and rego it trick

funnily enough i had a fella at the suzuki dealer tell me to do the same thing ... not sure if i am quite game enough to try judge wat speed im going.apparently thats what a few owners of the recent gixxers do .maybe its just a wanganui thing ..

ps: i do my rego's for 12mnths as the wof lasts 12 months .benefits of owning a recent bike eh!

Had a car once, that when I went to go put new label in I found one of them had been cut lengthways in half, with another behind it from a different car so only the date showed. Was quite clever I thought, unitil the police just run your plate and it shows up straight away... :spanking: good for an unexpected trip to the city with a lapsed rego for example!

12 months for both the car and bike...Kind of an old habit from across the ditcch where 12 months is standard

Ah, I wasn't hooked, doesn't worry me - but there's bound to have been somebody out there in KB land who will read your post and think "Man, now THERE'S a good idea!" I was merely pointing out the downfalll in your cunning plan, troll or not.

Good thinking! You wont be speeding then!!

But just stop filling petrol and you will not have to worry about WOF or Rego. That will really piss them off. :2thumbsup

I do it in 6 month blocks to match my WOF. That way if the bike needs something massive for a WOF and needs to be off the road for a few months I can put the registration on hold without losing any cash.

I look on it as being equal to the price of one tyre for 12 months reg. As I buy around 5 - 7 tyres per year, its just like buying one extra.

I picked up a work van once from the mechanics where it had gone for a warrant. The retards had accidently put last years warrant sticker on, realised their mistake and written the correct year on the back in pencil. They thought I was being so anal insisting on them putting the proper sticker on.

Had that happen to me by mistake once, had just got fresh warrant before pushing the bike on trademe and got pull up with exempted rego....saw the warrant was two days old and let me off with that but still got speeding ticket 82km/h in a 70 zone 2 minutes from my house...fitzherbert east road up Aokautere in Palmy, they park up near pacific college with a laser and wait for you to come round the corner from town past old west road turn off....:psst:

Anyway it could have cost me $200 more on the positive side:spudbooge:
