Kawi Z1000 info pls.

Hiya all. I'm sorta looking around at different bikes but the Z1000 seems interesting. Anyone know how they go, or know anyone who does? Any info would be great.

I have a Z1000. I love it. Great handling; a nice growly exhaust, comfortable for an hour and a half (by which time you may want a gas stop), and the looks are very distinctive. I fell in love with the 'z' the moment I saw one in a magazine. I am very pleased they go as good as they look. The 'angry insect' looks are excellent.

The wide bars make it great in tight turns. You sit up quite a bit compared to sport bikes (and even the VFR I had before hand). As I cruise at a reasonably relaxed pace, the wind blast is no problem at all. There is heaps of power - much more than I need, but having lots in reserve is a nice luxury. The brakes lack a little feel when you first yank them on, but they actually stop very well.

My bike is a nice glossy red and the build quality seems pretty good so far - I have only gotten about 2000km on it so far and am very much looking for summer to get some distance touring in.

I looked at a Suzuki SV1000; great bike but the z1000 looks got me, notwithstanding the greater price. I also looked at the Yamaha FZ1; a nice ride, but the z1000 looks still got me.

I guess these days its hard to find a bad bike. However, if you go for the z1000 I am sure you won't be disappointed (that is, if you want naked).

Bought mine in Feb this year,and have really enjoyed it. Have done a couple of 600km days on it,handles nicely,people are interested in it,well built,and have no bad things to say about it.Have taken pillion passengers on it,and it handles just fine.a good all round bike.A good choice :2thumbsup

Thanks for that.
Have you guys got a basic tank range for me? Anything over 200km's per tank?
How do you find the handling? Some of the overseas comics say there is a bit of chatter when riding bumpy roads, not that we have any, oh no!
Have you done any mods? Pipes, mirrors, number plate brackets?

Also, has anyone tried lower handlebars or will there be thumb to tank problems? Just scouting the possibilities. As airplane has said, the position is quite upright.

Got a baby zed, a 750, luv it,... Whats the 750 like - they get good reveiws and are a big seller in Italy. Good price too.
Mr & Mrs Grumpy both have Z thou's - Mark bought one because his wife wouldnt let him keep borrowing hers!. Ive tried them - they are GREAT! - just a little worried over wind protection on 600k days

Plus its an out-of-box streetfirghter so you can help popping monos and doin some burnouts. Orange or black for me though

The 750 doesn't really appeal as far as looks go. It seems to be lacking a bit of aggression, compared to the 1000. It could be the pipes, the different forks, or the wheels.

Have only done 1000ks on the 750 and it's in for the first service today. The bike has a great engine. Lots of torque so you don't have to change gear unless you feel like it, and will accelerate cleanly from about 55 kms in top. Offcourse if you want to gun it, it will do that to. The riding position suits me, but I liked riding mx and road bikes in the 70s so maybe thats it. The bike is balanced and easy to control through traffic, and feels good and planted on the twisties. When I saw it I had to buy it, the naked bike look got me, .....I always wanted a Z900
