PC3 are poo. Get a Kawasaki race ECU.

On the tyre front. If you want a pair of Continental Race Attack, as used by Jay Lawrence, and Chris Sucich on their Kawasakis, click the link in my sig.

It,s a road bike mate! Race ECU is NO GOOD FOR A ROAD BIKE

Dave at AMPS in Auckland is exellent on the Dyno tuner mate, he is the man I have always used in New Zealand for mapping fuel etc

Thank god... A voice of reason there Shaun...

I've never had any dealings with Dave @ A.M.P.S but then again neither have I heard a bad word said about the man

Icekiwi - you may wish to consider another option somewhat closer to home in regard to the dyno...

Brett Roberts 027 5907-462

Bloody clever bloke is Brett & he has also has an extensive amount of experience with tuning Kawasaki's

A word to the wise before booking your pride & joy for a run on the dyno...

Do all your intended modifications & have your Power Commander fitted & operating on the bike before you turn up - if your bike is running like a bag full of assholes, trailer it to the dyno... You are paying a handsome hourly rate for someone to optimise your engines tune, not fit accessories... Above all else make sure you fill the tank with what ever fuel it is you would normally run in your bike, as, once optimised you'll need to keep running that fuel. A full re-map will be three to four hours if a custom map needs to be made & your bike will be working hard for a good portion of that...

An ideal scenario would be that you have just had a top end service done on the bike, fitted all your new bits, gassed the tank up & then turned up at the dyno...

Some food for thought if nothing else...

Cheers

Why not?
Seems to run perfectly fine on Chris's bike with lights and mirrors fitted, no starting issues like a PC3. Has more tuning capability than a PC3, and is cheaper (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Motorbikes/Parts-accessories/Performance/auction-142881706.htm?p=1) than a PC3 (http://www.speed-tech.co.nz/shop/index.php?cPath=22_46_82&osCsid=3d2b1438b2051b89c29827b2d1064a99)

I'd also recommend Brett Roberts

Also a good idea to remove your fairing(lower at least).Bikes get hot on the dyno even though fans are being used.:niceone:

MY BAD THEN MATE. I believed that the electrical cuircut for lights etc, was eliminated from the race ECU

you are also comparing a brand new part to a second hand one so of course cheaper.

I could find the prices of new units in the US. (edit: done)
The Race ECU is tuned by laptop via a proprietary cable which Brett Roberts has access to, and can raise the rev limit if wanted. One can also adjust ignition timing with this clever little piece of kit. It's double the price for that capability with the PC3
Kawasaki part (http://www.mikesfamouspowersports.com/eshopprod_cat_3369-7028-22218_product_407716.ADJUSTABLE_ECU.htm) $270 USD
Power Commander (http://www.powercommander.com/powercommander_iii_usb/powercommander_all_downloads.aspx?mk=8&mdl=55&yr=2005) $350 USD

See the Kawasaki ecu to suit the 05 is $380us
Guess with the dollar the way it is a guy would be silly not too.
What sort of $$ approx for a run on a dyno to tune it?

And thanks for the advice guys...
