Hi all,

I am back on two wheels after a four year break. Being older I have toned down from harcore sports bikes ( am riding a K5 GSX750F - hence my username LOL - am in the over 40 bracket now; last bike was a 1993 GSXR1100WP )
I didn't keep any of my gear from last time so I am slowly collecting gear again.
I don't want to go overboard with boots, so I have set my upper limit at around $230 maximum.

Has anybody bought any "Exustar" boots or "Vcan" or "Falco ESO" boots ?
Obviously I will try them on where possible, but am interested in some initial feed back if anyone can offer some.

Thanks in advance.

I have just completed a boot-buying exercise, which ended up with a pair of Sidi boots at $295. Excellent boots. I also tried some Gaerne boots, but couldn't get the right size. These seemed to be good quality, and cost arounf $250.
I looked at several makes of cheaper boots, and they were just that; cheap.

What size are you after? I have a pair of StylMartin waterproof boots, almost new, that I do not require (slightly too small). Size 10/45.

Oh, and Welcome back to the real world.

Look for kb'er quasievil or 1tonne, could help you with good priced boots in your price range.

I'm a big Sidi fan as my last pair have lasted for something like 9 years and were totally waterproof. Have now replaced them with Alpinestars (a bit reluctantly but couldn't get Sidi at the time). http://banditrider.blogspot.com/2008/02/holidays-are-expensive.html

The salesman swears that they'll be just as good as the Sidi were. I think ya gets whats ya pay for though. $400 for my Alpinestars, the Sidi's were about $360 when I got them - expensive then but works out at $40 per year...

Cheers dude, we dont do Boots as the Only ones we have found are simply not good enough for our label.
Best bet is to stick to a known quality brand, personally I would go Oxtars, but as long as they fit your away.
non known brand or cheaper ones from TM dont zip up well, they are to small around the calf to zip over the pants, Ive had samples of them all and none are good enough.

Good Luck

Amen Quasi -

Have got a pair of Oxtars myself. Bloody fantastic boots. Comfortable enough to wear all day if needed. zip and velcro works well. And not a drop of water got into them from anywhere the other day when I got caught in a downpour for 45 mins. well worth the $290.00

You might be dissapointed on seeing some - they are poorly made rubbish.

Thanks to all for your input. I did end up purchasing off Trade Me, but bought a pair of Gaerne Shockwave boots for $249 from Boyd Honda. ( Just a little above what I planned to spend - but only wanted to do this once )

Funny how anything bike related seems to cost more than you initially plan to spend (esp the bike)...

Hope the boots do the job for ya.

Don't think you'll be dissapointed. I rode home from Gisborne (300 Km) in torrential rain last weekend dry feet all the way. My boots are about a month old, Gaerne, similar price but not sure if they are the "Shockwave" or not.

PS. Welcome to KB! Glad you got your boots sorted, now how about a pic and comment or two about your bike? It was on my short list before settling on the C50T which suited my Missus better on pillion.

Thanks.
Heard they are a good brand. The "shockwave" boots are not waterproof, but I will apply a waterproofing agent to them. I tend to avoid the rain as much as possible. ( It ruins hours of cleaning in a vry short period of time ) LOL !
Should have them by Monday. Next on my list is a new set of tyres.
Will try & post a pic up soon. Bike came with a Yoshimura "slip on" with Carbon Can, Corbin seat, Crash Knobs, Scott Oiler, & Zero Gravity tinted screen - has done almost 7000 kms ( K5 model )

Well as this is a gathering of the teapot clan I should check in and say hi, welcome back.
Lucky you got your boots before I could start on my wacky fox forma pro tip. Picked up my bike from servicing today and the owner asked if I rode a lot of dirt bike. No, but I own a shitload of fox gear, for mountainbiking and motorbiking - and apart from the track you can't beat fox boots.
Yeah, he thought I was nuts too, but then again I think our bike looks cool.

Hey all. Just FYI Oxtar has been rebranded as TCX. Have a look at

http://www.tcxboots.com/eng/

I ordered the Oxtar Infinity, and got the TCX Infinity. I wear BMW Savannah boots at work (guess my job), but the TCX Infinity is as good at half the price.

Also just FYI, Quasi's Rapid 2007 jacket is a thing of beauty, and quality to die for.

Ka kite.
