Ye ha !! yesterday I did a trackday at Phillip Island on a hired gsxr600, F'n amazin track. After winning a trip to the race's(thanks Honda Riders Club) Corprate tent lunch and free drinks and a grandstand, I was forced to watch qualifying, practice and race days !!!!.after three 7 hour days of watching bikes go round and round, I was sick of watching, although Baliss fell off right where I was standing and I saw max go off at 240+ from a distance. I walked round the track once every day, and had it dialed in my mind but having no licence I was a bit worried I wouldnt make it on,
But I got on no worrys I went in the yellow group had no idea how fast that was But paid for 3x20 min sessions It turned out to be to slow and it would of been better to follow faster riders Than be passing slower guys and girls
but PI doesnt lack passing places, The corners are soooo long and wide and smooth 4.5km track and I only used the brakes for 2 corners Honda and MG, Lukey heights was awesome as expected, turn 1 was scary as fuck but Hay shed and turn 3 were actually the high speed corners to my suprise
knee down at 215km thru hayshed new record for me.
I dont care if Im going not going fast as long as my knee is down Im happy
Had couple of bush timers on the go about 1.55
So yeah job done, what a weekend that 600 race was far better to watch than the superbikes
If any one is ever in melborune go hire a bike and DO IT! you must

You BASTARD! I went to Phillip Island last year for a looksie while in Melbourne for a mate's wedding. The place was deserted, and I was like the proverbial beggar with my nose pressed against the restaurant window from outside.
Shit that must have been great, what a fantastic circuit. Lukey Heights and MG look very demanding technically, bet you wuz pooing yourself the first lap eh!!
Well done!! :niceone:

More so having my licence sighted "The R is for rider right?" yes thats right mam HA HA HA
Hire bikes were hard case, come in pass it on to the next rider never turned off
The circuit is so easy, flowing and smooth its ridiculos, The braking in to honda is nothing compared to puke hair pin
And I sorta expected the suspension to lift coming over Lukey but it doesnt I guess that what rebound is all about, 150 all the way up,
had a shit my pants moment at southern loop, start to drift wide and you have no idea where the track is
I could only do turn 1 at about 190 I could actually do hayshed and turn 3 faster I was well surprised I wanta go back so bad

I attended the "Afterburner", its a trackday run by the californian superbike school they run it the every Monday after the superbike race, Its good because you can only pay for one session if you like, you dont have to pay for the whole day. The bikes are k7gsxr600's they have about 15 of them for hire
I was amazed only 1 shat itself it was like 34C and the bikes do an 8 hours getting raped with out ever being turned off ,they are unreliable suzukis after all
I ride an 06 cbr600rr and I couldnt tell difference between my bike an the hire one, they have race or road pattern and all bikes ride on dumlops Im not sure what model. They where sticky road tyres

$199AUS for the day, $299AUS for the rental bike.
Having paid UK prices, 185 pounds for the track day and 195 pounds for the rental. It's a bargain...
There was one of the Californa Superbike instructors there giving free advice as well.

Awesome to hear such a small world, and melbournes only like 3hrs away. Hire bike what a concept!!! I know its not fast but its fun to hit the limiter on every gear just because you can and just because its a suxzuki. That track is simply amazing I still dream about it

Hey Matt, I took my own riding gear for the afterburner (the day after superbikes)it cost me 550$NZ for three 20min sessions honestly mate 3 was enough in that heat but 1 just wouldn't have cut the mustard
To hire someone else's sweaty gear that kinda fits will cost you $50aus

FYI. They use Dunlop Qualifiers on the bikes.
They run the same event at Eastern Creek as well and have another bunch of bikes there as well.
