Is it really necessary to remap your bike if you install some after market slip ons? Is it possible to do damage to your bike if you don't?

no its not really necessary but it be better if you do
Since you are in wellington you could just head to wellington motorcycles and get them to teka tune it, or even just adjust it using the yoshi box, instead of having to go outly of a power commander

What's a teka tune?
they put your bike on there dyno, and hook it up to a special computer and they remap the bike to your pipes, and improve its use.
This is same as putting a pc3 on, but suzukis you can reprogram the ecu using this tool
