Got a new bike! Nothinh fancy, just a XJ600 Diversion (aka Seca II). I'll be picking her up tomorrow, and looking forward to see how she compares with the GS500F.

Chalk and cheese. Had a divvy for about 3 years. Absolutely bombproof. Good for about 130mph too. Best rubber was easily the BT45's.

I'm having a new set of BT-45's thown on today as well as a late model handlebar-contol set. This is a '95 with the choke under the tank. I like the relaxed riding position a lot more than the GS500F, which i'll probably ditch. It's smooth, simple, comfortable and reliable. That's what I need to ride 180km a day to work and back.

It's a bit hard case, 'cos the little GPX with all the aftermarket bits will chew it up and spit it out perfermance-wise, but that's my "fun" bike. The XJ600S (which is confirmed as the Aussie "Seca II") is more practical then the Suzuki. BTW, the Seca II has a single front disc as opposed to the Diversion's twin discs.

So, I'll be ditching the GS500F as soon as the changes are made to the XJ600. I'd rather have an older bike that I really enjoy riding than a modern one that I endure. Pix as soon as I buy a digital camera, which i'll now be able to afford.

Oh...you can get very nice cheap wraparound crashbars for the divvy on ebay.....aside from the crashing thing you can rest your feet on them (when nobody's looking)

The bike will be ready next week. I've decided to add the crash bars as suggested by Scracha and I'll remove all the "Seca II" decals/stickers/graphics and put the simple "Diversion" logo on the fairing
like the 2002 bike below. It's a nice simple "clean" look:

I've ordered the decals, and was told by Yamaha that they will only supply the "Seca II" decals as that was the official model name for Aus and the US. They'll be here in 3 weeks.

I don't like the tacky red/rainbow grahics. The new decals are blue on silver, and more simple. The new mirrors will arrive as well from Japan. The stock ones are useless, unless you have a thing for shoulders.

Also, she's much quicker than the GS500F, with a lower center of gravity, and lower seat height of 770mm. With the 790mm seat height and longish 20ltr tank on the Suzuki, I had to reach to the bars. Not the case with the XJ. I'm more comfortable, and therefore more relaxed and having more fun. The GS is back at the dealership. Got a reasonable price too. When I get a bit more money together, I'll look at the GSR600.

Below is what the new graphics will look like. They're actually from a '98 model.
