Great day for a ride. Was at the back til lunch at Coroglen. No incidents. Great burgers as usual. Group carried on to Coromandel then split up, some going down the coast road to Thames and others back over the hill the way we came. Weird ride for me, first half felt like all the bumps were upsetting the bike - then on the way home I remembered about looking further ahead, getting off the seat and weighting the pegs - much better...

Cheers Paul for a great day - very well behaved ride I thought!!

From what I understand @ 1/2 hour ago there was no bin. Having just spent the past month visiting a mate in hospital after binning his bike, and knowing my loved one (and that of others) are out and about today seems this is a very poor taste post suggesting there was a fatal.

Jrandom, do the MORMON FEW take out the 2 up challenge you put on here?

we went the wrong way due to a disgusting wire wheeled katana showing up, i had to get away..fast!
then someone in gay white boots, and black leathers on a black late model sports bike (possibly a R6) forced me to ride fast to get away from this awful fashion statement, so away the 2 up mormon on crew went!

Yep, my tyres were almost stuffed before I left and I dug a few more grooves in the back 'un last night.
Sure enough, by the time we were coming back over the Kopu Rd, they were rooooted. all slidy and ugly!

But that's just a stamp of approval: I had a great time both starting near the front and also letting half the squad go in front after Coroglen then working through as many as possible (safely of course)

I was surprised at how mush extra grunt the KTM had over Beyonds' 1400 out of the corners but i couldn't loose him 'cause the long travel front gets all squirmy under brakes and Paul aint some pansy assed wannabe, he's a hard assed throttle twisting maniac

I was surprised at how mush extra grunt the KTM had over Beyonds' 1400 out of the corners but i couldn't loose him 'cause the long travel front gets all squirmy under brakes and Paul aint some pansy assed wannabe, he's a hard assed throttle twisting maniac

i had my eye on your bike and you right from the start, but not in a queer way..
i had to ride with ya, and i was not dissapointed

Just heard from DMNTD who has reported a great day with no bins, fantastic.
We were both looking forward to the day when we got to the Karangahaki Gorge and the rear wheel bearing in the MV shit themselves
Many thanks to the services of Michara Motorcycle Rescue who came and picked the bike up. I knew Chris was really looking forward to catching up with everyone, so I MADE him carry on with the ZX14 (equip with brand new tyres) and I returned home with the MV.
Sounds like my tyres are truly scrubbed in :msn-wink: and sounds like it was a great day :niceone:

Yep the day started off shitty...I mean really fark'n shitty but fortunately for me I have a bloody good woman and as she has pointed out above she MADE ME take the ZX14 whilst she waited for the good folk from Michara Motorcycle Rescue (027 5491918) who came along and picked up my MV and Unit.

The ride itself went superbly from what I saw and yes the ZX14's tyres got scrubbed in ok :pinch:
Great to see Barbender out on his new Tuono....mate you looked so relaxed, bloody good to see! :apint:

Mint day!

Yup, Jody was hung over and I rode alone, so Carver and Sidewinder were free to pwn all comers and take out the Two-Up GP crown.

:niceone:

I was very impressed with everyone out there today, owner definitely takes the 'best wheelies' and 'fastest man on the day' prizes. All riders seemed smooth, in control and generally out for a brisk and pleasant cruise. Just goes to show that it can be done!

My bottle of scotch is still up as second prize behind the helmet donated by Katman for the draw which everyone will be in, now, thank goodness, so let's get the names in the hat and get that sorted, eh?

Yep, my tyres were almost stuffed before I left and I dug a few more grooves in the back 'un last night.
Sure enough, by the time we were coming back over the Kopu Rd, they were rooooted. all slidy and ugly!

Enjoyed tucking in behind ya mate. :) The 1400 seems better on the downhill sections than the uphill ones. Had to work a lot harder to stay with you going uphill and could relax a fair bit more on the downhill twisties. Rather strange when you consider the wet weight of around 250kgs.

Awesome day.

the downhills are where the long travel forks are nastiest, specially with the tyre going off and cramp setting in

Thanks Paul for sorting such a fantastic day and also to the other riders for making my day so enjoyable. I think that this day should be a template for future rides and it certainly restored my faith in large groups. I was considering dropping out and very glad that I didn’t.

I met quite a few new faces who I would happily ride with again. Special mention to the orange Z1000 and pillion (sorry bad memory for names), was great running with you guys, good lines and good pace. Bike of the day for me belonged to Buelbabe, awesome custom graphics

I split away at Coro and took the opportunity to call in and see one of my riding buddies (Blackbird) who has recently shifted from Tokoroa. Great to catch up and thanks for the ear plugs. Ha was quite freaky to see pics of me posted in this thread by Kev from Coro while I was still actually on the ride.

Well I gotta add my 2c.
Been on this forum for a couple of years now and the reason I joined was to meet some new riding buddies ... however I very quickly became disillusioned when I read thread after thread about KB group rides that people were binning on.

SO this was my very first KB group ride, and on the Carnage Loop no less!

It was an awesome day and I was really impressed with the quality and courtesy of the riding.
I preferred to sit at the back where there weren't any log-jambs... and had a great ride.
The only downer for me was having a really stiff left hand which got progressively worse as the day wore on, the hill over to Coromandel was agony...

But on a brighter note, my little blat on the 1125R Buell was bliss, CHEERS Blackbuell!

And big thanks to Beyond for organising the day!

Yes well I should not go on more rides as Nodrog pointed out! <_<
As I didnt actually attend the ride I didnt think I would be in for any prizes. I cant thank you guys enough for this prize, as we are not the most $$ rich people in the world (but extremely wealthy in many other ways) often I dont go to track days as we cant afford for both of us to go. I love the track days for enhancing my riding (greatly required) and I am very very excited about the opportunity to attend.
And for those who are wondering? NO FREAKING WAY will I be giving it to Chris to use

Shit! Is that so? Chris spent the entire time at the Coroglen telling Barbender and I, and anybody else who would listen, that when his bike crapped out, he TOLD you that he was taking your bike for a DECENT run (for a change ), and that you were doing what you were supposed to be doing i.e. what he TOLD you to do! .......I told Barbender that he was all shit!:bleh:
Well you know he does have a reputation to keep up, and besides it was actually a selfish move on my part, imagine this, getting home after a great day out with everyone to a grumpy partner (we are talking about Chris now) who has been sitting at home all day with a broken bike in the garage, giving up my ride was the better option :msn-wink:
But seriously, I know how much Chris was looking forward to the social side of catching up with all his mates, and when I offered him my ride he asked me five times if I was sure, and was quite prepared to go home.
Fantastic everyone had such a great day, and KB managed to restore integrity with the Coro ride :2thumbsup

That was a good call Kiwifruit. Some were very deserving but none as much as a person who gives up the ride for their partner and fellow rider :)

Thanks Andy.....it was awesome meeting yourself and all the other KBers that day.

I was surfing the net last week, saw the coro loop ride so i signed up straight away (don't know why i haven't before this) just so i could register for the ride.

Huge thanks Paul for a organising a sweet ride.

Looking forward to the next one when I have another weekend off from the dragstrip.

Good on you. Not many partners like to be on the back when the rider is pushing things a "wee" bit. :)

My missus rides pillion rarely these days but she certainly wouldn't be nudging me to go quicker though.

He'll be with you soon. A shame you don't have roads like ours scattered around your area though.
