Hi.
I have had my cbf for a few months now and about the only thing bugging me about the bike is its cruising revs. About 6800rpm at 100 was starting to wear a bit thin and on a particularly windy day trying to overtake a van and being basically stuck at 103km/h at the power peak of 8k in fifth I thought enough was enough.
Checking the back pocket and the CFO limited any mods to a not quite motogp budget of $40. What to do?
After a bit of head scratching I figured I would need a larger front sprocket or smaller rear. As the rear is a small 43t and the front a moderate 13t and cheaper I set out to find a 14t front.
Que the helpfull website of bits4bikes. Bam, right there on screen was a 14t sprocket for the cbf. $35 and it was mine.
I went and picked it up the very next day and unleased the tool kit. Off with the old, on with the new, file of the chain guard to fit larger sprocket and a tension of the chain later I was back in action.
What a difference. It has changed the character of the bike by miles. It is much more relaxed cruising at around 6300rpm at 100 in sixth and 7300 in fifth. Fifth is a much more useable gear now, much better for overtaking.
Now for a better exhaust can.
