Hey KBers. I was reading a thread about signaling to other bikers in th eoposite direction about a cop. :Police:

Question: After you see a cop, how long after you have seen it do you stop signaling to bikes or cars ???:Police:

I do it for about 2-3 km in 100km/h areas and about 1km in 50k areas.:Police:

Interesting to know.:Police:

Depends on the road. If there aren't many turnoffs, I'd do it for longer because it's more likely the bikers and the cop will still be on the road - but I guess most roads like that are usually the 100kmp/h roads and so to do it for about the next three kms sounds pretty sensible.

I used to alert people coming the other way that a policeman was waiting to catch the naughty... but one day I figured I never speed anyway, and people who overtake me while I'm doing my steady 105km/h™ and speed off into the distance annoy the crap out of me, especially when they overtake in a stupid place. If they're speeding on SH1, they deserve to get caught IMO. Same with the knobhead boyracers who do skids opposite my house - on Cranford St. It's the main road north ffs, asking to get owned.

I only signal to bikers......

But not if I'm mid corner. I'd rather hold the line. Love isn't always on time.....

My, you have grown!

Are you going to go the whole poacher-turned-gamekeeper thing and become a speed cop next? :devil2:

I won't flash cars, bikes yes, will normally do the hand in air circling motion thing, for a few ks. But like has been said, you know the risks if you speed, so good luck to you. In-fact I'll often flash people if they look like they're being idiots (just passed someone in stupid place or look like they're going like the clappers) when there is no cop about, funny how they suddenly become law abiding citizens.

Do it on Ponsonby Road mate... circling motions with your finger gets a LOT of attention, and about 200 gaybois following you to the end of the earth.

As for the original question... "Till it's long enough"... I don't measure it just apply what appears to be a dose of "about now" Probably a couple of k's, and only for those I think deserve it...

i will until i figure theres a chance the cop has moved... i flashed two bikes once in foxton after spotting a popo filling at the bp there. i stopped once i was out of town as by that time, the cop would have been done filling and moved.
i also flashed down south after a wanker in a 4wd got pulled up for a breath test... after flying past me like i was standing still. hardly any chance of the bike being pulled up, but just in case the copper had a radar going.

so yeh, normally ill do the next few bikes i see for cops. hazards on the road, and its as many vehicles as possible until i decide im far enough past that cars behind can take over.

in town 1-2km, open road 3-5km. Better too much than too little. Unless theres someone going like the hounds of hell are after them then I'll signal them regardless. I'll signal bikes or cars. Hand on helmet or flash or hand signal.

People who travel *everywhere* at speed are going to get done either way, by the law or by something solid travelling in the opposite direction, one will cost them money and the other will cost them their life. Nuff sed.

Half of the fun of being on the road is playing some sort of game.. And having fun with the cops is as old as throwing an egg at the ice cream truck.

Yeah but your cop car just has a switch to make the lights go round n round.

We gotta use our fingers...

Bikes: a K or so. Whatever "feels right".
A particularly sneaky trap... quite a while.

Cameras on a safe straight peice of road (blatant tax collecting) = bikes + cages. A good example was the camera parked at the end of the NW, heading west, last night.

If they are moving too fast, and are in 'stupid' cars (eg badly modified, beat up, smoking etc) I'll keep flashing my lights at them because it slows them down and makes it easier for me to dodge.

Dito. I do alot of motorway driving and i do the same. If im in the car i generally flash my lights for a lil way, but often if i see cars in the other direction driving like wankers i dont.....they deserve to get caught, to many stupid drivers on the roads alot of the time me thinks.

Bikers always get a warning from me, even if they dont look like there speeding, its just nice to know whats coming up ahead!

No, I have a friend and a couple of online gamer-friends that are in the Police. I say they're doing a good job. The Police catching me that night (whatever I was doing) was really a good thing. Previously I never saw a problem with doing 120+km/h over the speed limit, now, that I can actually appreciate having my license, I have no problem sticking to the "Posted" speed limit aka 50km/h in a 50km/h zone, etc.

I flash most of the time, much more and more urgently for cop cars waiting in nasty trap spots.

So hon, you have grown... I think I can say you have seeing as I know you!

But I don't think you'll do the poacher-turned-gamekeeper thing so yeah...

depends on road + 1

i'll do it as far as the road goes --- for short side street with light traffic

for the main raod --- starting from where i cant see the cop from my side mirror, for the next 2~3kms i reckon
