This sort of thing usually arises from too many shit-stirrer types causing trouble. Isn't that the same with 'No Patches Allowed' signs in NZ? I wouldn't call it discrimination...

The funny thing is it doesnt mention the Hells Angels MC, which are in the area.
Don't think thats really discriminating against anyone.
More like discriminating against the Gangs Colours.
I have seen "No Abbo's" signs up in northern Queesnland pubs.
It stood out for me but the locals didn't even blink at it.
Aussi's are not as bloody PC as Kiwi's are.
Generally call a spade a spade.
I like that too.
The Tuai Gentlemens club used to have a sign up stating
"No Gumboots and Swandri's after 7pm"
Kinda the same thing really.

I wouldn't call that discrimination. I'd say that when you join a gang, you are affilliating yourself as a member of a group who live as one- so when one or more in that group cause shit while patched up, they are acting on behalf of the entire group.
There's a good chance that this particular bar has had a lot of problems with gangs and wants them all banned. I don't blame them. Most people don't go to bars to be intimidated or have fights break out.

That particular area has lots of troubles with gangs, violence, and other such urban nasties. Most Licensed establishments have signs like this to certain degree's announcing what/who, kind of personage, and what/who's kind of behaviour is tolerated on those premises. Perfectly legal and is not dicriminatory in the least.
Multi thousands dollars of fines, can be imposed on the licence holder of a pub/club, if certain behaviour is allowed to happen on their grounds. Placing restrictions like this is a normal, precautionary measure...
It is not racist as it doesn't specify an ethnic race, or impose restrictions based on skin colour, or religious belief. Now to some a motorcycle gang, or similar is a "religion", but not according to the law's definition..
I had similar restrictions at my pub, "No Gang parephanalia or colours" was one of them....

Used to have signs like that up in Hutt Hospital. The signs have been taken down in case it made one of the Hard Case gang members cry. There were cases of rival gangs abducting kids who belonged to rivsal gangs and punch ups in the corridors, so the hospital refused to treat them and put the signs up and got slapped mightily by NZ's anti-discrimination laws. Now they expect 5'2" 22 year old female nurses to enforce the "policy".
I'd say it was sensible. I'd say that NZ discriminates against Tax & Rate paying Joe Public by not providing a safe hospital environment.

No it isn't. Most Australian Aboriginals can't get a job that allows them buy a motorcycle, let alone manage to breach the social glass ceiling of moving up social strata to gain the hallowed class status of "Gang Member". p/t.

You would have been more accurate if you just left off everything after Joe Public.

Calm.
I dont get why there is no hells angels M/C club on that list.
You know whats funny, some of the most polite customers I have ever dealt with have be "m/c" members.
I dont condone the illegal elements of motorcycle clubs in nz and hope they get whats coming to them but there are some genuinely nice people in those clubs too.
Dunno what the haps is in australia though.
What happened to that big courtcase where all the "bikie gangs" were banding together to fight the legislation.

Mostly brave when the mates are around. Some, are tough pricks on their own though......
Mr Agro1% could be one of these, who knows. He too could be a keyboard warrior, so type away.
Looks like its something similar to what is being brought in to W(h???)anganui, banning gang regalia.
