Hi Guys,
Been pretty quiet on the site lately but rest assured Team Metalform have been hard at work.
Good news for Team Metalform Racing is that both Mike and I will be on new machines this season. Mike has seen 'the light' and now is the proud owner of the ex-Ray Clee K3 GSXR 1000 that was campaigned to 2nd place in last years Superbike class. I've worked some magic and now have a K4 GSXR 600 to ride for the nationals - the back pocket/bank has pulled through!
Mike has completed a few track days and a race day at Taupo and is feeling at home on the Suzuki. The GSXR having quite different geometry and not quite as strong front end as the R1 but the thing has more grunt than that NZ clay-bird shooting chick at the olympics so it'll be a rocket out of corners and down the straights.
I picked up the new 600 last Saturday so have only managed a quick ride down the road to get a feel for it. Friday will be the first time on the track on the bike for me and I'm looking forward to giving it some round Ruapuna. So far it feels like it's got more boogie and pulls hard right up to the 15.5K redline, it feels well planted on the road and the brakes are awesome.
We'll be campaigning the full nationals and will keep you updated with how things progress, Ruapuna this weekend and Teretonga the following. We'll also compete in the Battle of the Streets - Wanganui Boxing Day & Paeroa 20th of Feb. Looks like it's shaping up to be an awesome season!
Cheers,
Nicko
