Woke up this mornin and thought "na, i'll flag uni today n go for a ride instead", so i had a lye in and then headed up the tukas :devil2:

Filled up at caltex in upper hutt before i went up there, and then went for it. Did afew passes, minimal traffic totaly awsome, happy as can be!!!

I notice its bout 4 o'clock so i figure id beta head back for work, stopping at caltex again on the way back. Pull into caltex and 'tink' snap goes my key in my fuel tank!!! :brick:

didnt have enough fuel to get to work or home, so had to drive to a mates house and leave the bike there and get a lift to work; lock smiths cant get there till 2mo...

what a great way to ruin an awsome ride......not freakin happy :angry2:

Ahhh, crap!!! Yep, wouldn't be quite so bad if you had a full tank when it happened eh! Oh, well, at least you still got in a good ride BEFORE it happened!!;)

The trick is you take the hose off the fuel tap, stick on a hose with a funnel on the end and poor fuel slowly down the funnel. It is slow but works.

Buggar, you obviously havent been lubricating your keyhole often enough. Nearly had that happen to us one time on the 06 ZX10, took us half an hour to coach the fuel cap open without breaking the key.

Just be thankful you have separate keys....

As long as the pipe was long enough to get the fuel well above the tank and let Gravity do its work im sure youd get enough air out of the breather/overflow holes.

Dont take a lot of brains to work out that fuel tanks have air vents. how else would the gas get out after you filled it up? Hell who even thought that gravity would actually do something useful? so how about engaging brain before kicking sombody for making a statement that would have saved poster 1s day and his wallet.

If ya wanna try funneling fuel into the tap via a length of hose then you'd better start sucking on the shut off valve promptly

Unless you turn the tap to prime.

Note the bike, I'm pretty sure they dont use that system, (tap on is open, off is not, simple and effective) since half the time if ya dont turn off the tap, all the gas pisses out over night.

So? I have done over 100000kms in the cage (at 275kph down the desert rd with the misses on the back) before the bike but i still can not go out past 10PM.
