Stop doing them now Before the KB wheelie police have this in the bin after quoting 50 years of ACC statistics and written evidence that for every wheelie done somewhere on the planet another tree dies.

We should stand tall, proud and united and say to the KB masses.... FARK YOU and your nanny state. Keep your smacking laws, your over sulphated diesel; your overly taxed salaries. The right to choose which fish and chips you eat from without knowing if the gubbermunt has specified which oil, how teh salt comes packaged or how many you're allowed per sitting.
my front wheel is just that.. and if i believe it should point skyward.. then no amount of ACC bullying, nanny state quoting or GN riders bleating on will stop me from cacking my pants as we pull it up too high.. as the smile i get and others watching is worth every penny.

Exactly.
Using the clutch to wheelie is a strange idea.

The 400 hasn't got the strength for it, the clutch is the only way to get it up. Pretty sure I've warped the plates

I only lifted the front once (and it too was by accident) on the day I borrowed a 636 Ninja at Puke I was getting comfortable on the bike in the last session of a track day, just came out of the corner and onto the back straight and gave it a mitful. Front came up "Oh shit!" front came back down and started wobbling "Oh Shiiiiiiit!!" lay flat on the tank and the wobble went away. Nice.

First time the front leaves the ground and you get some head shake. Not fun. I've had a few moments on the CBR that I'm sure would have been scary but for the clever steering damper controlling a wiggle that could have been a waggle.

Was your wheelie about a few inches off the ground?
You know the things is, when you first start learning how to wheelie, your brain exaggerate the wheel lift higher than it really is.
Anyhow, keep up the good work! :msn-wink:

You'll get used to Jimjim. He likes making up stories. The carload of boyracers was probably Edna and Mildred on their way to bowls.

You hooligans dont understand how dangerous wheelies are. Don't even get me started on stoppies. They are not clever. Will someone please think of the children? You are all better off focusing on getting your knees down. Roundabouts are fantastical for this.
Naaaa, just kidding. Wheelie on.

fark yeah, stoppie into the corner, drag your knee all the way through then wheelie out of the corner an down the straight, stand up on the pegs flick the bird to any oncoming pickles - whatta rush :stoogie:
I am not a hooligan, but do ride with some occasionally (not to often, bad for my rep)

just did another wheelie the other day. Pinned the throttle coming up over a rather large bump/hill/crest in the road and the front end just came right up on me. Wasnt ready for it but, luckily, my reaction time was good enough. Set her back down after a few seconds smooth as glass.
The driver coming the other way about 100 yards up the road actually went off the side of the road thinking I was gonna crash. Hehehehe. Silly driver. Guess its not every day you see a motorcycle coming up over a hill on one wheel.
I will say this: Wheelies are VERY addictive. I swore I'd never even try a wheelie on my R-6. I'd just feel like such a shit if I layed her down like that.....but now I find myself thinking of wheelies every now and again. I'm even starting to get the front up by accident....at least I think its by accident....could be a sub-conscious thing. Just today I was thinking of going back to that same little spot and having another go at it.
I've even asked my friend to sit past the hill with his digital camera and get a little video so I could post it up for you guys. Of course you all know what happens then: I lay it down on camera and it finds its way onto the internet and all over youtube. Must not do it. Camera's are a curse.
Must control myslef. Must not wheelie again. Must consider the joys of track day riding this summer and what I'll miss out on if I total the bike.
Must NOT wheelie. Must NOT wheelie.
AHHHHHHHHRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHH.

Camera's are a curse.
The phrase "killed by camera" comes to mind.
Luckily not actually killed, but the intended actions can go spectacularly wrong...
But luckily there is a camera there to record the crash...

Best way to learn wheelies? is on everyone elses bike
muhaha :bleh:.
Beats me how people get a fancy new sports bike & cant corner it,especially when new sports bikes R made to corner & yet they get tyres which out performs them too!,also having a new race can/system fitted to get a few more ponnies.
So if people r not into wheelies/stoppies,cornering,feeling like kevin schwantz why they ride sportsbikes?
So keep up the wheelies yeahboi

Got my front wheel up yesterday too.
Totally by accident !
Wasn't that scary surprisingly. It was as i was pulling out of a layby following a friend. Gave a bit of extra throttle than usual to get into a gap in the traffic and... lo and behold... i'm only on one wheel.
It was sort of a leany wheely thing. Not very high but high enough. It felt nice and smooth and i didn't feel out of control at all.
Won't be trying any on purpose though. I've only been riding a week!
Do wheelies on a 250 count?

I totally owned eastern suburbs of Wellington today on my girfriends 49cc scooter.
Wheelie, stoppie, gravel burnout, you name it, it was me!!!
This was just hours after I had parked my 996. I did a quick stop at the local for a drink, four Harley's parked next to me. Lucky them no Japanese bike, I've banned them in this hood. The 996 was feeling gooood, just lubed the throttle cable. Watch out!

Oooh look we have a winner :first:
I never said anyone can't wheelie a 250 just that *you* didn't wheelie yours.
Every learner shits themselves when the front gets light but brown pants do not a wheelie make. The Ninja 250R doesn't have the power/weight to powerstand (specially by accident).

Obviously, a scooter doesn't have a clutch, so you have to use other techniques; My fat ass placed back on the seat, uphill helps, pull on the bars, wack the throttle and up the front goes. You can balance it there quite well actually. Haha LOLz
But ye, it wouldn't happen accidentally...
