How you getting down to Welly man?

Sorry I can't meet up TS, but for mine, I'd recommend the Rimutakas.

Paekakariki Hill is a good road, but potentially far more dangerous than the takas as you don't have a lot of visibility.

On the takas you have heaps more visibility, the corners are much faster, and although the road surface on Paekak is better, the takas give you much more opportunity to scrape pegs and generally be a total hoon.

Others will probably disagree and, of course, the takas are copletely out of your way.

How about - do the takas (takes about an hour out of your day), turn around at Featherston and come back again, go over Haywards and do Paekakariki on the way out of Welly.

Best of both worlds!

And will only take up an extra hour out of you day, which I guarantee will be worth it. You will love both rides!

I could be up for a ride. What bike you getting, or have you already said?
I'm not riding all that fast at the moment, but you can take off and wait for me

I'd be happy top head over the Taka's with you, then I might go have a wander out to Martinborough. Bruce (VTWIN) may also come along.

9:30 you say? Let me know what you think.
Dave.

Only if TS decides to run her in gently. Otherwise it'll be 2fiddy down the straights and full banking around corners tearing away all of the chicken strips of a brand spankin new set of tyres! :Punk:

Go over the Rimutakas, go up through the Wairarapa and the go over the Pahiatua track through Palmy back to SH1. 2 good runs in the first part of your trip.

Or you could go on up through to Napier, do the Napier Taupo and then SH1 from Taupo back. Adds about 90 minutes to the trip all up.

I was hoping you were picking up a 1941 Suzuki GN125, with shoddy tyres and throttle problems... That way, I could keep up with you. I'm such a sissy, I drove slower than my gran would with my new tyre on, on Tuesday night.

Can't wait to see the bike, don't think I have yet.

Hoon
2nd December 2004, 12:38
Yeah me and LooseBruce went that way on the way to Manfeild the other week. It sucked big time........in the van carrying 3 ppl and 2 bikes that is but it would be a blast on the bike. Lots of twisty bits with a suss looking tabletop bridge to practice your backflips on :)

curious george
2nd December 2004, 19:59
Haha! jeez Hoon, that would be the worst road with a van full of bikes!!!
Yup, Vinegar hill it is, it's almost worth the ride down there for that alone.
Just an idea, any local or regular riders know a better way?
