Hey Slick, congrats on getting your learners.

In regards to what kind of bike to look at, it will really come down to your personal taste. Do you like the cruiser, naked or sports look? A commuter or for weekend rides? It maybe a good idea to go check out some bike shops and see what they have on offer.

Hey dude, welcome to the madhouse , the only advice I can give you from my continuing motorcycling learning experience is get 250cc four stroke bike. Whatever style may tickle your fancy unless you have lots of patience or passion for a characteristic bike *like me lol* best head away from two strokes.

That's great news. I'm thrilled when someone realises that they need to learn

Have a a look at http://www.kipmcgrath.co.nz/ . They'll have you able to type in english in no time at all.

Hey Kev, welcome to KB.

First off, I think it's pretty stink that a senior member negative rep'd this guy based on spelling. What kind of welcome is that ffs?!

Now, more to the point. If you're looking for a first bike I think the common theme here is that you test ride a wide range of bikes before you make a decision.

Though if I were in the market I'd be looking to buy a bike with less than 40,000KM on it - especially so if it's an inline 4. And check in the photos for damage, like bent levers, scratched covers or bar ends. You never know what kind of damage/history could be on a bike that's all messed up.

Yea, there are lots of threads on here about buying first bikes. So have a search around.

Important question: How much do you have to spend on the bike? Can you afford to get a brand new bike, or do you just have $2k max for an old GN250?

If you are in a rush, you will probably buy the first bike you can get your hands on - and then probably regret it later. So be patient, if possible.

Get a mechanic to check it over - at your expense. If the owner will not allow this, go elsewhere. At the very least, get a bikie friend to look it over, and failing that, then post what you found and the KB community will give you plenty of feedback.

Hey congrats.

Get yourself a Hyosung or a GN250 or a Honda VTR or Honda Hornet. All are bloody great to learn on.

Because a couple of senior members thought it would be funny to take offence to his spelling!

Talk about a welcoming community :Playnice:

Hey Kev, welcome to KB.

I agree, that is really not on, welcome to KB slick-kev, I am a bit of a pain sometimes with spelling, but only if you really dont show any signs of improving ;)

mmm Biased something I have found reliable, Hondas! Cbr's, Hornets

So you are biased towards Hondas then? Or is this based on your experience?
