Watched first ever race today Woohoo!

Hey all

Watched my first ever motorcycle race today and what can I say it was phenomenal! The noise and the adrenalin rush as the racers competed was awesome! I only managed to catch one race at puke but it was a good one, it was the production superbike one at the end of the day. Far out next time i gotta go in the morning and find a good spot with a few brews, some food and some shade lol. How does one find out the races that are scheduled to occur around auckland as I'm very keen to go check some more ones out haha *obvious noob excitement*. My condolences to the friends and family of the racers who died today, rest in peace. Ride safe everyone.

:niceone: If you really enjoyed it you should have a think about getting in touch with AMCC and see if they need a volunteer for their club meetings. You get close to the action, meet the riders and start figuring out that it can't be that hard really. Next thing you know the RG has got numberboards.
Racing is a great thing to either watch or be involved in.

Marshalling is way more fun than just sitting watching, you get in free, are a fair bit closer to the action and you get free lunch!

I didn't mean any offense guys, i just watched the last race of the day and learnt of the sad news. I mean no offense to anyone, was just kinda excited at watching my first race. Man i should prob get prepped for a verbal ass kicking.

I remember watching my first race in Scotland at Knockhill. Just a local club event but it was an awesome experience.
In later years I went ot watch the British Superbike Championships in the days when Niall McKenzie and Jamie Witham were pissing all over everyone else with their Cadbury Boost sponsored Yamahas.

There is a reason we do it even knowing it is dangerous.
I think most people are fairly clued up to that.

Its amazing aye, I still remember the days of going to Hutt Park Raceway to watch speedway bikes, I would have been real young at the time but I still remember it so clearly!


RG150's are the perfect streetstock bike too!...

Haha maybe one day koba when my skills are actually good and I have another bike, i'll enter the streetstock. Man the noise was incredible and when they cornered it was crazy. The leader won by .23 of a second! It was so close.

Drider87. I don't see why anyone should be offended. A shitty thing happened today and two people died doing something that gave them great pleasure. I knew at least one of them, and I know that he was always stoked to see people getting pleasure out of motorcycle racing. I don't think he would want that to stop. I'm sure that there are a lot of people feeling conflicting emotions about today.

Exactly, plus one on that.

We all take risks getting on our bikes, and those whom choose to race know they're more at risk than others. It was a terrible tragedy, and these next few weeks will be a nightmare for the families and friends of the riders, but I don't think they nor anyone else involved would find you expressing excitement or joy for track days at all disrespectful - probably more like respectful as you're seeing in the track what the riders themselves saw - and I'd imagine many would probably be encouraging you to go to more and to get more involved. :)

If you enjoyed that, try to get out to some club racing, if anything they are more fun as the racing tends to be closer and the pits are a bit more social.
