In the market for a new chain & Sprockets.. What's the recommendations? Want to get reasonable/good quality.
Bike is a 2006 z750. What are x-ring chains, and how do they differ from
o-rings? Any suggestions on sprockets - stock or aftermarket..?
Auckland area (central/west) but have bike, will travel.. Cheers, Ritch.

Good to deal with, excellent prices and service. Better than buying here. If you want to change your gearing you can do that too!
They'll supply a complete kit with chain cut to length for whatever sprockets you choose. Make the most of the exchange rate!

while you're doing it, the best bang-for-buck mod one can make on a modern sportsbike is to put a smaller front sprocket on, one tooth less should do the trick.

I had an X-ring chain and new sprockets fitted at Cycletreads a week or so ago for $300. No idea if X is actually better than O, but the Great Interweb seems to say it is. I think anything would be better than the munted chain that was on before.
Also, my bike is a cruiser, so you may be after different things/it could all be different for you.

DID, DID and DID. Rivet link and get it fitted proffessionally. Try not to put more kiwis out of work, buy local and support your own, not some faceless Yank.

Curious, how many Km did you get out of your chain and sprockets? John.

OldRider, I purchased the bike second hand. Done over 40k on the originals, and there's still life left in both the chain and sprockets, just getting my head around what to get next, and where to get it. ( I hate rushing into shit and finding I could get better stuff cheaper elsewhere - And Robert T, I hear you about buying local, will do exactly that if I can get a decent price - which is the reason for this thread.. )
In fact, thanks everyone for their recommendations - much appreciated!

Thanks, bear in mind that buying c & s is not straightforward. There is a lot of cheap stuff on the market and all too often you replace and the life is way shorter than what you had with the previous set. Caveat emptor!
