:niceone:

I'm stoked, just picked up my 1st bike the 2008 ninja 250r in green.

Its stunning, and really nice to ride all though its the only bike I have ridden.

Ill attach some photos soon =).

So happy, got insurance through John Baker insurance and he was really awesome, gave me a discount for being Kiwi biker :msn-wink:

Cant wait to learn how to ride it properly.

sweet :) enjoy the new toy and ride safe.

Just a quick question for you: buying a brand new 250 sports bike like you just have, what was the deciding factor that made you buy the kawasaki Ninja over the equally priced hyusong GTr? did you take them both for a test ride?

I'm interested in the answer to that too, have a mate in the same situation, I used to have the Hyo GT250R myself, was an awesome little bike. The Kawa looks superb, but seems a little underspecced for the price, i.e. only one front disc, narrower tyres etc.. is the frame smaller than the Hyo?

Didint test ride either, watched about 10 video's on both. And reading these forums but tbh I just had a soft spot for the little Ninja - in turtle green

Few friends have the hyo's and its alot more expensive. 24 Month warranty over hyo's 12. It is however smaller then the Hyo which is good for me as I am only 173cm and about 76kg.

However it does have smaller tyres then the hyo but not having ridden anything other then a GN125 it feels like a Ferrari.

Good on yer, looking at it wouldve been too small for me at 6'5" 105KG, (Probably why I needed the extra disc!). But awesome looking bike and its a Kawasaki.. good choice..

Nice! Looking forward to the pics and reviews. I owned a Hyosung. Was very happy, but the Ninja might have persuaded me if it was around.

Ive had the bike for about two months and loving it, was waiting for the green one but when the red one turned up at AFC i just had to have it
We went to Thames from Palmerston North a couple of weeks ago and although it was a long trip the bike was up to the task no problem .
Meanie has had a larger front sprocket on it to reduce the revs for highway cruising. It now is doing 120 kph at about 7200rpm. It was doing 100 kph at 7000 rpm so now feels like its not reving its arse off
Had a ventura pack rack put on it as soon as they were available, took meanie about 10 mins to fit. Now i can bring the groceries home without tyeing plastic bags to the handle bars :gob:
An awesome bike to ride and handles very well. I havnt ridden for a number of years but have had no trouble getting used to the Ninja, wont be long before i am passing Meanie

Congrats dude on ya new Ninja!!

I had also decided to get it however just a couple of days ago i changed my mind after talking to some mates and now am deciding between a GSX250 and a VTR250, then will look to sell it after i get my full in a 1year so i can buy 250cc+ bike.

Well congrats again dude, all the best.

no big deal from what i understand. your dealing with pretty low power / speed in the 250 market.

nice choice of bike. post some pics.

Yea, Well if you mean the beep when you apply the front brake then yea, lol whats that about?

Ripperjon

Nah, don't know about that one.

Mine just beeps randomly and sounds a bit like truck reversing noise.

I was a bit worried that it was a warning of some sort but couldn't figure out what i was doing wrong.

After searching some other kawasaki and ninja forums it turns out it is just gas escaping the gas tank. But it sounds uncannily like an electrical beep.

So yours beeps when you brake?
Weird.

I will... eventually be getting that bike too as my first bike. I had a look at one at Mt Eden Motorcycles with the bf the other week and my god I wish I could have one now! Black for me though. Stuff the Hyosung's go the NINJAAAAA's I say.

Taking into account second hand bikes being sold these days are overpriced with bloody high km's. So yeah wise decision. Have fun hoonin it around!

I've just ordered one of these, like you it will be my first bike. Would have been nice to sit on one first tho. Hows it going, any regrets?? should go for a ride when I get mine!

I got a red one and I like:

1. It's light and handles wonderfully.

2. It has plenty of power for commuting around town.

3. It looks cool.

4. It's solidly put together.

5. It's comfortable.

I don't like:

1. It doesn't have a fender over the front of the rear tyre like most bikes seem to have. I don't like cleaning the shock absorber and those hard to get to bits in front of the rear tyre.

2. It's a bit hesitant immediately after a cold start.

Same here on the negatives.

Needs a hugger and cold starting can suck.

Otherwise, it's an awesome first bike i reckon.

I personally don't like the look of the Hyo.

has anyone found an aftermarket hugger or framesliders yet? Been googling but cant find anything yet.
