Count me in! Steve and I rode over today and went to Rotorua via Pyes Pa Road. I'm glad we did because I got a bit of a shock when I saw the gorge! Glad it is only little though. Also, there was heaps of road works today. Hope that's all gone by the time we go again. I always feel better on a road once I've been over it once.
I'll have to remember the camera next time too...

Yep time to get a plan going, but I think Peta has that covered. We now need people to start updates on road conditions for the route we are going to take. I expect is will be a medium pace, which suits Im out for a pootle and a gwak at the scenery.
Do we have a 'real' head count for now?

No not here to piss anyone off! Just breaking an opening line, In Tok here on the 6th Random Rides are doing a run from Tok to Rota then to Okoroire and back to Tok. It's a fund raiser for a young girl going to Japan and we are selling rides as a pillon. Young, old and boys and girls, some never been on a bike and it's a good way to get some people on a bike. Thinking if you guys are at the lake around 11ish we should be around that time too and would you guys be ok if we stopped by you or you us for a chat etc. Just thought it would be a good way for our passagers to see who rides and it's all good stuff. Just awareness of who rides!:Punk:
So sorry, I will not be able to sneak up behind you....

Loads of laughs, sorry to lead everyone astray ending up in Tokoroa
Dangerousbastard, you can be our kitchen bitch anyday, I was truly impressed with the lunch and the location, I have never been to Blue Lake, its a piece of Godzone heaven.
13 ladies on bikes all up, the looks on the guys faces when we turned up at Oko on mass was priceless :shit:.
And to the two 'girls' who tried to turn up this morning? Sorry, this was a real ladies ride, all of us quite capable of surviving the day without any male intervention :nono: our respective partners didnt think we needed 'taking care of', probably glad to get rid of us for the day :headbang:
Ladies it would be good to get together on a regular basis, support each others riding and enjoy each others company.

Just as an aside ladies, the next Moto TT track day is on the 16th May (its a Friday)
Now for anyone who thinks "Hell no Im not nearly good enough" BOLLICKS
These track days are brilliant and designed for all levels of riding. Its not a race, its about getting out and getting better in a safe environment. (Sorry Peta to highjack your thread but its a great thread for us local ladies to keep in touch with each other).
They are really well run, and you can get unofficial coaching (experienced riders get out and have you follow their lines, and tell you how you are going).
I will be there seeing as I won a track day after giving up my bike a couple of weeks ago (most curtious - spl - rider) when Chris' bike decided to have a melt down (better than a grumpy partner to come home to).
Ive done a couple now, and its been great.
So ladies come along, I do recommend it and you will come away having learned heaps and also a great social day.
OK, highjack over, back to the upcoming ride.
Loved the lunch thing last time, and it would be nice if we took turns in doing something similar. Maybe we could do a collective lunch thing this time, you know, bring a plate and stop somewhere nice to share.
Also, I will bring my decent camera, and we will get a good group photo (last rides photos were great by the way) of us lined up standing next to our bikes.
Thanks Peta for bringing this group together, its fun and I think we will have many great adventures together in time to come :first:

A BIG thanks to Peta for organinsing these rides. Roll on for the next one on 25th May. It's a great chance to meet more riding buddies & great for the confidence. I've since been out & about heaps. I headed off down the western access road with another lady, via Mangakino, Turangi, Taupo, & home to Tga. Was a long ride by the time we got home. She had only been riding for a month, I didn't realise that. So, she clocked up some k's that day, in the wet & getting home in the dark. First time for everything.
The next ride I took off to Gisborne by myself, stayed a night while the weather was shit, then headed back home via the East Coast. Just great.

Well Ladies I havent been on for a while and had to miss the ride and race off to Whangarei to sort some issues out with my boy. Really wanted to be there but, unfortunately sometimes motorcycling has to take a back seat (yes I know, its shameful)
Anyway, sounds like it was yet again another well organised ride, well done and Im strongly supportive of these ladies get togethers. I think it's important for us to support each other in a predominately male oriented sport. Dont get me wrong the guys are great and have always looked out for me, but its also good to have girly time too.
Looking forward to joining you all on the next outing
Meantime, Im off for a ride

How did your ride go yesterday Peta? Sorry couldnt join you, was revamping Garageland, now the boys will never find anything they need, (cause its all organised in labelled bins, containers and boxes etc :oi-grr:)
Went for a wee pootle on Saturday over the Kaimai's, and have decided to go to the MotoTT track day on the 21st June, so that halts my road riding a little. Im regularly surprised how much my riding has improved lately. Dont get me wrong, I still have a long way to go, Im not a naturally talented rider and have to work hard at being average, but the track days help a lot, and riding the same roads regularly too.
What about the rest of you ladies? Any great highlights lately in your riding that make you feel like you have reached a new level? The biggest thing for me is I love my bike, and Im happy and comfortable on it. Being relaxed has helped enormously, some of my previous bikes Ive just been plain scared of. I took the Ducati 1098 out for a test ride on Saturday, which is what Chris is currently working towards getting. Not the bike for me, but definitely right choice for him. If I moved onto that bike, I think my riding would take a backwards step, which is interesting.

Heh! I'm glad I'm not the only one who organises the garage, putting things into bins! That'll teach them for leaving everything out all over the place.:jerry:
My riding took a huge step backwards recently, when I dropped my bike on the driveway, but I'm finding that with each ride, I'm improving again. I really must get to a track day, even if it's just to have a look at first. And with practice, practice, practice, I'm sure I'll improve all the time.

Went ova the kaimais sun/mon wet roads and wet cow shit and no visibility was a good challenge. Definitely had alert feelers on full beam. I realised how much we take dry rides for granted, so riding in these conditions was a good challenge I could feel slippery all the way. You never know when ya can get caught in these conditions, so its good to know how your bike will handle in these conditions to avoid any silly choices.:eek5:

Looking forward to the next ladies ride. Big thanks to Peta for these days. No worries being 'tail end charlie' for the last ride, someone has too & hey, I get to laugh at the ones in front when they 'stuff' up, cause no one can see me do it at the back end. :devil2: but its all totally good fun.
For thsoe that may be interested. Bayride, Tauranga, are taking names for ladies rides also. Don't want to stand on Peta's toes as she is doing a great job, but they have asked me to help organise some rides also.
I've been spending a bit of time riding with some learner ladies. They are improving with leaps & bounds, so fingers crossed, will have more on each ride to come. Amazing how the thought of riding in a 'group', if never done it before, can scare the shite out of you. But all good, and lots of fun. I'm up for new tyres on my bike very, very soon. 12,000k's since Xmas & only 1200k in my car. Says something. I 'love' my bikes.:) See you all on the next ride. Roll on for a another great day. Dam I sorry I missed yesterday. Really wanted to come but.... rear tyre currently has a dog poo in a puncture, 25,000kms on the clock and still needs 24,000km service, saving to go to Aussie next month, and Chis is currently on holiday from work and desperately wanted to put some more Ks on his new bike. Given Im having a great holiday next month, I wanted to support his holiday this month. So for all the above reasons I couldnt make it again this time.
Really glad you had a great turn out again and that this ladies ride thing is really taking off, Im all for it, and really hope to make the next one.
Good one ladies

Hi, could you please keep me up to date with these rides as I would like my wife to join in. She has her own GN250 but it still on her learners. She has had her confidence knocked after I had a major off. I having been trying to motivate her but there always seems to be an excuse. I saw Lynn and her SV so at least my wife will know someone. Cheers. Mike.

Well stop falling off and upsetting her. Mike your wife should know this is a great environment as we really take it easy, and really look out for each other (not saying the guys dont, but the female/female support makes its less threatening). Not the best time of the year and that can also be off putting.
Presently Tga folks tend to do quiet little pootles over the the Oko Sunday afternoons, if she wants a buddy Im glad to ride with her, Annette

Cant sneak around anywhere. I was off to Auckland for our annual conference (didnt want to travel in the bosses car ) was the coldest trip I can remember in years, even with double gloves and my heated handgrips up full blast.

Im sure that wont be a problem Karen. Peta is very good at this organising stuff. Not sure what her planned route is yet, but its always interesting and usually covers back roads rather than the boring SH stuff. You being a local of your parts Im sure we would all appreciate any suggestions. I rep a lot in your area and found a nice wee back road the other week from Otorohonga to West of Hamilton on the Raglan road. Is there any way it connects via your part of the woods at all? Looking forward to the ride.
