The Herceptin Peaceful Protest Ride ended yesterday with a spectacular finale at parliament as planned, and hopefully we have made a difference to the plight of kiwi women with HER2+ breast cancer, and their families, and the common people of New Zealand who are fighting for access to cancer drugs that can save or prolong their lives.

One problem remains with us now, and we need real help. Our back-up vehicle poo'd itself in Napier and is still there. We think its a blown head-gasket thingy, and/or an oil leak problem, which has rendered it non-driveable. We need some help to get it to the Wellington Ferry Terminal, at which point we can organise it ourselves back to Nelson. The AA won't help us, owing to a fuck-up (theirs) with our membership criteria. When we renewed it, the person doing it didn't renew it as AA Plus, which is weird since we've had that cover for twelve years or so already, and we never realised we now actually DON'T have it until... TODAY! when we told them we needed it taken to Welly and they said... ummm... no.

They are not negotiable, and our piggy bank is almost empty. I would very much appreciate hearing from anyone who has any suggestions as to how we can get this vehicle home for repair without it costing us what remains of our arms and legs. The truck, for those who haven't seen it on the rounds, is a 2.4 turbo diesel Hilux-Surf, but its an auto, so its not road towable without disconnecting the driveshaft, which we obviously would rather not do.

Its a bugger for this to be the situation we're in after such an awesome and well-supported event, but we just need to find a solution, and I'm sure we will, but any suggestions coming in from the KB great wide open that might make the process quicker or easier (and remotely affordable!) will be very welcome. I can be contacted on 021 202 7393, but no cranks please.

Cheers
Max

Huge thanks go to Steve and Warwick for the kiwi can-do attitude in getting us sorted within 24 hours of us popping up on the radar. We now have the vehicle safely back in our own clutches, and its all thanks to these two stars who stepped up to the plate, put their time where KB's mouth is, made contact, determined what was needed, and just got on with it for us.

Thanks guys. We'd do the same and more for YOU, anytime!
