so they're retailing at the same price as last year's gpx250 ninja?:gob:
I think Honda should be putting clip ons and the CBR125 fairings on their VTR250s to compete with these bikes.
Nice entry bike these new kawkas

Don't go thinking the ZXR is better then the GPX ;)

Cylinder count is slightly different :P
Actually I reckon the whole bike is different. ZXR being the super sport so you're leaning forward more and handle bars are nice and snug. Plus the double front disk brakes, more RPM due to smaller cylinders.

Sounds like you're talking about the old zxr not the new one.
We need a spec sheet now I think.

I think suzuki should throw the DR250 donk in a SV650 frame, similar size to the hyobag no?
Having sat on one of these kwakkers at spectrums, i have to say im impressed. They look shiny and feel pretty light, haven't ridden em though...

And here's the spec sheet on Kawasaki's own website showing thst the new Ninja 250 is (just like the GPX) a twin too. Further investigation shows that the old gpx actually has 7hp MORE than the new Ninja so 10/10 for looks and 4/10 for performance.
Would be interesting if someone did a road test on them both eh?

i posted up a video review somewhere not too long ago.
I used to have a gpz 250r which is pretty damn close to a gpx 250. I have followed the 08 ninja 250r for a fair bit just lately. Gets along alright. Horsepower is not a good way to judge a bike performance, especially for a road bike.
BTW monie has one

I didn't even notice the new Ninja 250R was a two cylinder. Whats the point in that? Whats there 4 cylinder super sport 250 now then?
EDIT: This is bugging me now. Maybe they haven't brought out a new ZXR250?

They havent brought out a new zxr250.
They have made an all new 250 to fit into a big hole in the market. Its not a gpx either. Whats the point in 2cyl over 4 you ask?
Price. Cheaper to make and the twin makes "enough" power to get the bike along for the purpose it was built for.

they are parallel twins. and more of a learner sports than a touring or striaght out sports bike.

The new ninja 250 may be many things - but a ZXR it is not! :nono: I'm not sure, but they may market it as a zx2r - which would be as close to a lie as you can get.
I can not help wonder why the japanese manufacturers have taken proper 250 ccm sportsbike entirely off the menu these days... Anyone know?

Probably because a 250cc sportsbike doesn't make much sense. A 4 cyl 250 sports would probably cost almost the same amount to make as a 4 cyl 600 cc sports. Given a choice, wouldn't you rather have the 600? A proper 250 sportsbike seems pointless.
I am a learner and once I have a few years of riding experience I will consider getting a proper sportsbike. I can assure you that it sure as hell aint going to be a 250. 600 is the very least I would be looking at at that stage.

Doesn't make sense? I think mine has been a lot of fun so far... Bikes like the 2-stroke 250 ccms are pretty aggressive, very flickable and I'd expect a whole lot of fun.
I wonder how, from that perspective of yours, you would explain why people who have raced and ridden BIG sportsbikes for years and years still find a lot of fun going bucket racing? I mean, they are even smaller...

I think the new ZXR 250 is a really kool little bike, But if I was a big person who was going to buy a 250cc I would seriously consider the Hyasong V Twin 250, it would have better low down Tourqe than the ZXR
Both a very similar in price, and they are both good looking little bikes, I hooked a friend up with the NEW Kawasaki last week, the GREEN one.

You need to even ask that? :P
Weak low speed compression damping in the front forks, poor rebound control and a rear shock with a huge rear spring rate allied to almost no bump damping. Sorry, the reality is they are built very cheap.
