I have a couple of videos up on you tube now.
The last couple are interesting. There is one of me on the 9 on greens road (actually its not greens road, I got the name of the road wrong) which ended up being a pisstake.
It was the first time I had the camera on me and I was trying to ride fast resulting in fucking up just about every corner on the road.
The next video is from Shannon to Palmerston. The last 2 mins is the same road. This time we were relaxed and cruising. Riding is heaps more "normal" and funny enough find on the video that I made it through that road faster.
Anyhow, videos up. Links in my sig. Enjoy.

Don't you hate 'performance anxiety' lol. These vids are bloody awesome fun to make and watch eh! I was playing the latest one at work this morning and a couple of the guys are keen to get going on their learners now. We must get one over the track and saddle soon! :niceone:

Really enjoyed making these videos the last couple of months. Really fun. "performance anxiety' ? Yeah, Takes a bit to learn to riding "normally" when people are watching. It is all good.

I heard the track had been butchered again. Dammit. What's it like? Why can't these roading guys just sweep the goddam roads when they finish? The bottom of our road was done today and now resembles a fucking ice rink! Thanks for the heads up btw :calm:

It sure is! Love what you've done with the soundtracks too, there's some perfect moments in there :)

Sorry Al,was tired and confusing myself, I don't know about the track, I was thinking of the saddle. Your spot on about the sweeping the roads, they do an absolutely piss poor job of it!

thanks. At least some like it . One comment on the last one saying he was bored after a minute was amusing.
The camera is a oregon scentific brought from dick smiths for around the $250-$300. It is not mine. I borrowed it off dogsnbikes a while back and havent returned it yet. Video is recorded onto a 2Gig SDcard at 320x240@30 and built with womble dvd editor and encoded with DivX before uploading to youtube. Mounts with a bracket that is connected to the mirror. My bike shakes around quite alot at speed. The Daytona is a little better but still get the jolting. Tried putting it behind the screen but cant see the road very well. Have considered putting it onto the pillion pegs right above the muffler to see if the sound could be better but havent found a mount that I am sure will still be there at the end of a ride yet.

Saw the vid with Al and Sarah on ,bloody good shots and clarity, like the sounds, gives a good impression of what it's like on a bike.
Must get BB,dial-up way boring, shit even the campground had BB on their computers in the main kitchen, gone are days of B & W tv only in kitchens.

What about mounting an outrigger to the backpak on the zx,either left or right side.

The greens road video felt as dodgey as it looks. It was actaully recorded the same day as the shannon video. We arent fast down here though. To get fast you need to be in auckland.
Seriously though, I have wanted to see myself on video for some time to see exactly what I am doing and not doing. It is a fantastic learning tool and learnt more about how my bike is sitting on the road in 90 mins of recording than in the previous 100,000km of riding. Got a fair way to go to earn the "fast" reputation but then it is not something we aspire to down here. Had an absolute ball doing it though.
Oh yeah, while working on Yods VFR the other day he had the forks off to do the seals. When we were putting it back on we discussed how to install them upside down to make the bike faster but we just couldnt work it out.

cool vids and stuff.
I *might* be able to organise some high-speed hosting NZ-side so we can put up some high-quality vids, if anyone is interested. Anyone want this ? Wot say ya ?

Yeah the track is very `slippery' at the moment. I went over about a week ago and got my first big fright:pinch:....getting too confident and not being prepared. My back tire decided on its own agenda but all was good....stayed clam and upright and went with the bike rather than fight it. Just wasn't expecting soooo much gravel.:crybaby:
Re the vid's Cowboy...they were cool to see what goes on in the front of the rides and to see how to ride a corner...since I never get to see being at the back most of the time:scooter:. Is it normal then for you fast guys to go over the centre line all the time then? :dodge: :innocent:

Hmmmm. very dodgey! I dont condone riding over the centre line. Its cheating. You referring to the "Fake it" video. That was really bad! The Shannon video is a bit better but still catch myself crossing the centre line a couple of times. Very bad habit that needs to be knocked on the head.

The vid's really are great and are also helpful to the likes of me, to see how to take a corner at a reasonably fast pace. I have learnt heaps watching how you, Gary and Dogs in particular just lean with the bike like it is part of you. I recognise some of the roads and can't wait to get out and give them another go.:chase:
See you out there soon.

Crossing the centreline can SOMETIMES be useful in maintaining your line, using the available space and getting around the corner. It totally depends on the conditions at that moment and should be a matter of choice for the rider. Shouldn't be done in general, really an 'as required' thing eg, overtaking, clear road ahead, tight corner etc, and should never become a habit, especially if there's the risk of a hazard ahead

I reckon all on-bike footage is pretty cool, Its all NZ bikes, people and places after all. Did you look at the name of the person who posted the negative comment on your vid?
Anyhow, I have helmet camera footage where I run myself over on an ATV........Muhahahahahaha.

Part of becomeing a good rider is being one with the bike.
As if it becomes an exstention of your self.
Feeling the grip, the road, the power all being transfered to your reflexes via your feel.
Its nice getting to the point where you become one with the bike and the road.
Puts a whole new meaning into riding
Knee down and quick corners, smooth braking all come so easy when you dont fight your self.
You relax more and are more aware of what is going on around you rather than always thiking of what the bike is doing

Even in a car I pinch the opposing lane; heading in to a left hand corner I stay out wide looking for the apex, on a right hander I’ll drop over the centre line and cut the corner - as long as I can see with out a doubt nothing’s coming, and if something does come I’ve left myself enough room, and grip (very important), to get back onto my side of the road.
And yes - all the above was done on the back straight at Puke.

Really . . . I think you've been lied too
Some mighty good misconceptions right there.
It ain't about fast but how good you look . . .

Oasis? That would be the verve? Bitter sweet symphony? Love that song.
Cheers. Sometimes it is nice with 2 or 3 all riding at pace together. Had such a great time making the videos.

Shit I must be like them coronation st watchers, about a year behind lol,the music I heard on one vid was Bat out of hell, bestest bike music eva.
As for xing the centre line,if you can see nothing coming and need to cross, as against, shit I've crossed the line best get back onto the correct side and crash scenario, take the cross the line rather than crash.
As I don't ride quick enough to see the front runners it is good to see the way the bike can be manouvered about safely.
Don't confuse The Verve with The Verve Pipe, never ever with farkin Oasis, holy shit Chris thought you'd learnt from ya off P/T.:devil2:
