Australian International TT event
Promoter – Motorcycle Racing Club of WA (MCRCWA)
The Motorcycle Racing Club of WA (MCRCWA) would like to invite NZ’s top Superbike and Supersport riders to take on the best Australian and UK riders at our inaugural International TT race meet. The event will be staged over 3 days at Barbagallo Raceway in Perth from November 7 – 9 and will include prize money of over $30,000. It will also include the third round of the Australian Sidecar Championship so it’s sure to be an action packed weekend.
MCRCWA are keen to include NZ riders at this prestigious event so are willing to put together a financial assistance package to help NZ riders with bike transport and air travel.
UK riders that have shown interest to date are former MotoGP riders Shane “shakey” Byrne and Jeremy McWilliams, Leon Haslam and there maybe a chance of getting Leon’s father Ron out of retirement for the event.
Please contact Denise Stronach via email mcrcwa@iinet.net.au for further details or keep an eye on our club website www.mcrcwa.com.au for GCR’s and entry forms later in the year.
Cheers

Cool. I'd love to see McWilliams out there again...and see if any of the Kiwi boys can hang with 'em.

I dunno if anyone is thinking about doing this but the MCRCWA are a great club. Denise and others in the club have had and/or continue to have involvement with the Oz MotoGP and WSBK events, so you can guarantee a great event.
My bike has done a lot of laps at Barbagallo, although not so many in my uncoordinated hands, and it's a great wee track. It looks simple on the circuit map but some major elevation changes make it quite challenging and interesting.
Perth is a nice city too, no where near as intimidating as you'd think for a city of it's size and it's location means primo weather.

Gidday Slowpoke,
Thanks for the input - Im hoping it'll be a great meeting; it has the potential to be...
I have a couple of good mates & my brother based in Perth, all of whom are active members of the MCRCWA...
When I saw the proposal for this I simply had to get behind it & see just how much interest could be generated for such an event

Is there a 125 class?

Is there a 125 class?
The November meet will include a support class for 125’s which we call “Formula 2”.
Formula 2 includes all of the bikes that we don’t really get full fields for like 125’s, 250’s and twins up to 650cc like the Suzuki SV or Hyosung’s.
We’re not really targeting 125’s but all are welcome.

If anyone is interested in going over to do this meeting with 125, SS or SBK bike, why not make a month out of it and take your bikes over to MotoGP meeting in early October also?
I will be organising shipping and all that to go to Philip Is again this year.
The more bikes we have in the shipment the cheaper per bike it gets (spreading consignment costs).
Bikes can be stored in Oz in between times, you can race at other circuits in between times and it looks like they will help get the bikes to Perth from Melbourne.
Waddaya reckon??
PM me.

Jonathan Rea is really keen to come as well with all of his mates above but it’s the week after the last WSB round in Portugal so we’ll see how that goes.
We’ve had a heap of help from Paul Lindsay, editor of Irish Road Racer magazine who has organised all of the riders
Will keep you posted on further developments
