Crossing the harbour bridge last Friday I got a biker nod from a traffic cop going across the other way :Police:. I almost forgot to nod back!
Nice to know some of the brigade see bikers first rather than crimes-in-potencia.

Having said that I am taking it quite easy of the NWern at the moment as in the last 48 hrs I have seen a bike cop of the west-bound side ticket 3 different cages.

I know there are quite a few cops on here, but any bike cops?

Bike cops always wave/wave back to me :D I think it must be because most of them are poms and they see my bike and think `Holy shit, an RS that hasn't fallen to pieces'.

Credit where it's due... Nod pulled me a few days ago (last week) and warned me to slow down a bit (a deserved warning...) and within 4 days I'm cut off twice... two very near misses that could have gotten "complicated" if I'd been doing my "normal" speed.

He didn't cost me a dollar, but possibly saved me thousands. It's not possible to say he absolutely did but... credit where it's due.

Cheers Nod.

why wouldn't a bike cop nod?

He or she is still a biker....call me idealistic, but isn't that what makes the biking community so very unique?

I would like to think it transcends colour of skin, religious beliefs, etc

anyway, that's just me maybe...

Would be nice to think so.
First time I've ever got 'the nod' from bike cop so it was nice.

I got quite a lot of hassle from the East London bike police when I was a teen at college though, despite not actually ever committing any offences (honnest). Got to the point when my Dad actually went down to the local nick and got an apology out of the desk sargeant to me, so maybe I was left a bit damaged ...

Erm, what is the colour of skin in your new avatar actually?

That was pathetic of them...what were you riding back then?

:D...didn't think anyone would worry about that...but that's kind of the point, isn't it? Ink covers all irrespectively...anyway, that's not the here topic :innocent:

Ermm ... let's say an assorted selection of my Dad's dodgy bikes. The most powerful of which was his honda c90 ... and the most rubbish (no - really) an ancient steyr-puch moped ... yes I can now see some people would have sympathy with the rozzers coming down on me ...

you're idealistic...

I haven't had a cop initiated wave since the days of the MOT bikes.... was a lot more common then as you had dedicated motorcycle cops

I must admit, I always found the bike cops in London to be far more friendly/forgiving than the ones in cars. They f*cking hate scooters though - mainly due to the amount of pikey kids wheelieing them around the back streets and nicking old ladies hand bags.

I was just wondering if the appearance of the bike had had anything to do with the poor treatement you'd received...

That's pretty sad...Cause to effect maybe: cops are treated like shit by the general public, and so don't really feel like waving?

All I'm saying is: there are two sides to every story...and surely they can't all be bad.

I guess I looked a bit like that and fitted into a 'scooter' model. Remember that bikes cannot use the bus lanes in London - or at least back in the 80's they couldn't, but mopeds could. They used to pull me and be unhappy about my legal Belgian licence ...
Also riding a honda cub you tended to look like someone doing the knowlege ...

Every morning at 0720 I would pass the P'ram bikey cop going south to work. I waved evey day and after 3 months he started waving back ... I won, I won, I won.

I'm with Usarka ... one day it will be payback time and he will remember that not all bikers think he's a pig.

I passed six or so biker cops on my way to whangamata just out of waihi, all of them waved and nodded as I waved. They must have been out for a pootle around the Coro loop or some training mission. I have them on film also :D

I often nod at bike cops (mostly as a reflex) and have never received any form of acknowledgment. Even nodded to a gaggle at the airport, thinking that because there were a couple with the same model bike as me they might give me some props. Nothing.

I sure as hell wouldn't wave at a cop, they would probably do me for dangerous driving, not driving with due care and attention etc and then tase me for looking at them funny.

Cops: evil.

:shake: It's part of my charm apparently...

maybe you guys attract the nasty ones :innocent:, cos I've never had a problem with any of them...

And no, I don't have big tits:Oi: just in case a couple of smartarses start pulling that (pathetic)card to prove their point.
