Check out this website, it has $40 million that is owed to people in New Zealand and you can browse through to see if you are one of those!

Apparently not.

Shame really. I could have used some of that 40 million.

$7000 from 1985.

Lucky you!
Seems I owe, rather than am owed...again.

You? Hell yes! Hey rich man, buy me a Keihin CR33 :woohoo:

It seems it's not money from the IRD, it's various uncollected cheques and prize money etc; the IRD is just hosting the data in a central repository.

Ha! Seems my mother-in-law could be on the list but not anyone else in the family... I know I owe the IRD heaps!!!

You'll note that I don't HAVE the $7000 from 1985. I've been in "dispute" with them since 1988 over it. I changed job three times that year and tripled my salary but my overall take home pay wasn't much better than the first job I left that year, thanks to bumping through two tax brackets.

With the interest calculation they use to penalise late payers they owe me about 13 million dollars. I'd settle for the $7000. But they refuse to admit they cocked up.

Yip and if you argue too much they will dig and dig until they discover you didn't declare your tooth fairy allowance you got when you were 5 ......... and then it's :spanking:

Aaaww they don't owe me anything... or anyone else in my family by the looks of it. But it was fun looking! Like waiting for the Lotto results! :D

My accountant told me that there would be a big fat cheque from the IRD for me at the beginning of this year. What arrived was a big fat bill.

Yes, and with the same result as well. At least you didn't have to buy the ticket, this time ;)

Can I change my name?

Makes you wonder how hard they try to track those people down. If these people owed money to IRD they would find them in a flash!!

I just spoke to my cousin, since she's listed. Unfortunately, you have to know who owes you this money, and be able (obviously) to prove that you're the right person. And if you hadn't remembered at the right time in order to claim it then, would you remember 6 years later? She doesn't.
