harrisville is open most saturdays from 1-3. then racedays though summer on the 3rd sunday of the month,

thought todays racing was great, Michael Cotter and Darryll King were awesome, also was really imrpessed by Luke Temple and Ollie Sharp leading races in front of very good feilds, Hurley proved how good he was, on a track i know he does not like, but he still proved he is a step above every one else,

It's MR BURGLAR to you.... not a bad haul either, been about 10 years since I won a trophy that big.... Damn good fun, managed to keep it on 2 wheels for once!!! Full credit to the Puke club, pity numbers are not as good as they should be, then I could steal from the Expert class instead.. haha

Cheers for the pics Clmintie, and we wanna see you out there next year too!

PS track open once a month for club days, every Sat from 1-3 for practise, see PUKEMX.com for details, or ring SCOTT at MR M/C to harras, i mean ask him all about it. The best AUCK track and set up by far!

Hey Scott is that bottom car park ever going to be used? i notice in his pics theres 1 guy parked there, i thought the bikes were moving down there and spectators up top? its a bummer, that part of track that got demo`d for it was the best section of the whole track

Should turn the bottom park into a practise supercross track?

Should turn the bottom park into a practise supercross track?

we are looking at something like that, but its hard because only a small percentage of riders can use it properly, and they takea lot of maintence to keep up to scratch, watch this space tho,

i have to say the racing in the 125 class between Cotter and Groombridge was totally awesome. Brad gave everything he had to try and pass Cotter, the 125 races were definatelly the highlight of the day for me.

scott411
17th March 2008, 19:06
my highlight was watching luke temple hold off the old boys in the first 450 race,

and also the commentary team trying thier hardest was funny,

but your right, the 125 race was awesome, the speed those guys were going though the corners was amazing,

arj127
17th March 2008, 20:54
Yeah, Temple was pretty mind blowing in the first race, held them off for about four laps and even pulled a large gap, but i think he must off run out off steam. He definately rode well, will be a rider to look out for in the future. I also thought Wiki rode very well and consistent, as he seems to have his ups and downs normally.

Was a great event anyways, good effort Puke club

Its great to see the young guys up front but im not sure if they realise theres another 2 races left, or in King or Cotters instance another 4. Its embarrasing the Kings, Cotters or should i say retirees are still kicking butt. The yound guns are obviously not training hard enough. I know im going to get shit for this and ive also got a top 5 son racing at the moment in the 11-12yrs 85cc so i guess ill be in the same boat when he turns 15-16 yrs whether or not he carries on or gives it a good go. Its interesting to hear of all the young guys headin abroad but cant understand the theory when they cant win here. Im not hiding behind my user name either. (Troy Tipene). I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new generation of juniors to jump up to seniors after the junior nats. Im sure they will ruffle a few feathers. Did you see the lap times of the junior 125s and 250s on the Saturday. Same track same conditions. I think with the guidance that Cotter, Broxholme and King are giving these new juniors may take work ethic to the next level.(Hopefully) Hamish Dobbyn, Kieryn Leigh, Ethan Martons hopefully will be names to watch. The top 3 125s in the 12-14yrs on Saturday were same lap times as Cotter and Groombridge.

scott411
18th March 2008, 10:48
Troy, the track was ripped much deaper for sunday, and watered more (you should know, you turned the water off for us) so it is not a 100% fair call to compare times, also if you have a look at the times the seniors set thier fastest times late in the race, where the juniors are early in the race and taper off, i would say only Dobbin would have a chance to get near the 2 top senior 125's on sunday, and over a 20 minute race, i would take Cotter 1st all the time at the moment, the youngs guys just are not as fit,
DK and Cotter are both basically full time riders, as their day jobs are coaching, both are extremely fit and do cycle races for fun (god knows how those things are fun!!!)
Groombridge is only 18, and is part of the new generation of riders, but as for them beating Cotter/Hurley and the King Boys, they need to pick up thier fitness a lot more, thats why those guys were winning the races, not just leading them early on,

I am sick of the Kings winning as well, Hurley/BT and Josh have proved they can beat them consistantly, and anyone looking at racing overseas should be trying to race those guys as much as possible before spending the money to go overseas, DK's is 38 for gods sake, Cotter is 33, and these are our fittest riders!!!!,

and untill the rest of the boys step up the full package, (riding and training) the old boys will keep winning here.
