You have $3500 to spend on a bike. Licence isn't an issue ,Neither is rideing experience --
Your preference is towards a sporty bike maybee a sport tourer
What sorta bike would you be looking at?

A good nick 400, ZXR or GSXR. Won't get anything bigger that isnt crap for that much. My second bike was a GSX400R 37k great nick $3g. Or a new bike deposit. Used bikes are often a gamble!

I agree, use it as a deposit on a new bike..you wont look back.

Go with RF900,maybe GSX750,mine was less than 40km and less than $3500 by a mile, looked at a Honda CBX750 50km in a shop at the time for $3990 or offers, offered $3000 and still waiting for reply lol.

Pretty open ended question there Frosty, but a quick look around that online auction site shows a few potential candidates from the 80's on, the good thing about these is we now know what is virtually bulletproof, the bad things is we dont know the maintenance history, but a compression test and a good looking over will give an idea.
You end up spoilt for choice in some respects.

How could you go past a GB400/500? For that sort of money it should be a good one. It's sporty... and you could tour on it :shifty:

Early ZZR1100s are going for that sort of money if you look around. I think they were the C1 models. Big and heavy but great road bikes.

Some of these could be options...
1. Tidy looking NC30 (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Motorbikes/Motorbikes/Sports/auction-144928594.htm?key=605686)
2. GSXR400, perhaps a little rough (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Motorbikes/Motorbikes/Sports/auction-143981323.htm?key=605686)
3. 91 ZXR400, cosmetic bruises (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Motorbikes/Motorbikes/Sports/auction-144545142.htm?key=605686)
4. Perhaps some 2 smoke action? (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Motorbikes/Motorbikes/Sports/auction-145691015.htm?key=605686)
5. CBR600, maybe haggle a bit (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Motorbikes/Motorbikes/Sports/auction-141712201.htm?key=605686)
6. Buy my bike! :shit:
Heaps of options... and many more still if you wouldn't mind a bit of a project! Let us know what you decide on :)

VX800....Yeah, I know you've already owned one, but did you put Progressive springs and cartridge emulators in the forks? Tranforms the handling.
Get the Jap import (vibey engined version) and derestrict it. Far more character than any I-4 - and pretty much anything else for that matter.

Yep. That looks like a Frosty bike. I approve. :niceone:
After you've pulled it completely apart and rebuilt it it should be just fine and dandy. Apart from that seat. Better talk to Motogirl about that one.
I see one of the forks in the shot has a very manky looking preload adjuster which may cause some jip when you do the fork oil (which I'm sure you will). I've got a spare one off the FZR750 which should fit. I can mail it up to you if you like.
I agree with what -df- said. Pull off those graphics. They're as bad as the ones Suzuki put on the RF900R.

At least give me the fairings for cheap and get some plain white fibreglass replicas if you want to get rid of the colour scheme.
