Does anyone here remember the musician Lou Reed? One of the original rebels, founding member of The Velvet Underground, godfather of the punk movement etc etc
Well here is what Lou got up to in the mid 1980s.
Hint: Watch it all the way to the end.

That ad's an example of what to many drugs can do to your mind. Reed still thinks he's in the 60's and he's a mod or else he thinks the scooter is a Harley and he's a rocker. I've alway suspected that Reed was AC DC.
Berlin. man that was a 'downer' of an album.

Oh, for fuck's sake: do a little reading and open your ears.
Lets get this straight, if Lou Reed had done NOTHING other than be (with John Cale) the major creative force in the Velvet Underground then that would be more than most people could hope for.
The fact that after the velvets imploded he went on to become a really innovative and interesting solo artist in his own right, and managed to deal with some pretty major demons along the way, while releasing some very good records (and some crap, almost unlistenable ones) is testament to the guy's talent.
And, again, if you do some reading, you will find Lou was never in AC DC (they are from Australia, he is from America).
He may have been bisexual though. he also lived for a long time with a transsexual person.
He is now comfortably ensconced in NY, living with Laurie Anderson still I believe, and it doesnt get much cooler than that.
Things you need to listen to:
Velvet Underground and Nico (ignore Nico)
Loaded
Rock n Roll Animal (my god, can Adrian Belew play!)
the NYC man album
and if you're feeling adventurous Metal Machine Music
Berlin is kind of OK in small doses, but I tend to prefer my downers country flavoured rather than heroin flavoured.

Been to two Lou Reed concerts. Transformer would be in the top 10 all time vinyl playlist.
'may' Ha!
Bowie, Warhol and Louie baby were all at it at one stage.
Jenny said, when she was just five years old
You know theres nothin happening at all
Every time she put on the radio
There was nothin goin down at all
Not at all
One fine mornin, she puts on a new york station
And she couldnt believe what she heard at all
She started dancin to that fine-fine-fine-fine music
Ooohhh, her life was saved by rock n roll
Hey baby, rock n roll
Despite all the amputation
You could dance to a rock n roll station
And it was all right
It was all right
Hey babe
Jenny said, when she was just five years old
You know theres nothin happening at all
Two tv sets, two cadillac cars
Ahhh, hey, aint help me nothin at all
Not at all
One fine morning, she heard on a new york station
She couldnt believe what she heard at all
Not at all
Despite the amputation
You could dance to a rock n roll station
It was all right
It was all right
Oh, now here she comes now-now
Jenny said, when she was just five years old

Yeah, every time she put on the radio
There was nothin goin down at all

Couple of million Vespa owners will tell you they have been for a long time.
I'd happily own a Vespa GT250ie. Barrel of monkeys around town.

I was a big fan of Lou Reed in the '70's - like riding bikes....if you are going to take a trip, don't just play around...extend yourself.Berlin is a tough album...half way through he tells you it's a bum trip,as if you didn't know! And Take a Walk on the Wild Side takes on a different meaning after sitting through side one. He's always been cool to me.
Men of good fortune
often cause empires to fall
While men of poor beginnings
often can't do anything at all
The rich son waits for his father to die
the poor just drink and cry
And me, I just don't care at all
Men of good fortune
very often can't do a thing
While men of poor beginnings
often can do anything
At heart they try to act like a man
handle things the best way they can
They have no rich, daddy to fall back on
Men of good fortune
often cause empires to fall
While men of poor beginnings
often can't do anything at all
It takes money to make money they say
look at the Fords, but didn't they start that way
Anyway, it makes no difference to me
Men of good fortune
often wish that they could die
While men of poor beginnings
want what they have and to get it they'll die
All those great things that life has to give
they wanna have money and live
But me, I just don't care at all
Men of good fortune
men of poor beginnings

And you can't go past Laurie Anderson for some different music
O Superman. O judge. O Mom and Dad. Mom and Dad
O Superman. O judge. O Mom and Dad. Mom and Dad
Hi. I'm not home right now
But if you want to leave a message
Just start talking at the sound of the tone
Hello? This is your Mother
Are you there? Are you coming home?
Hello? Is anybody home?
Well, you don't know me, but I know you.
And I've got a message to give to you.
Here come the planes.
So you better get ready.
Ready to go.
You can come as you are, but pay as you go
Pay as you go
And I said:
OK. Who is this really?
And the voice said:
This is the hand, the hand that takes
This is the hand, the hand that takes
This is the hand, the hand that takes
Here come the planes
They're American planes
Made in America
Smoking or non-smoking?
And the voice said:
Neither snow nor rain nor gloom of night shall
stay these couriers from the swift completion
of their appointed rounds
'Cause when love is gone, there's always justice
And when justice is gone, there's always force
And when force is gone, there's always Mom
Hi Mom!
So hold me, Mom, in your long arms
So hold me, Mom, in your long arms
In your automatic arms
Your electronic arms
In your arms
So hold me, Mom, in your long arms
Your petrochemical arms
Your military arms
In your electronic arms

Berlin is kind of OK in small doses, but I tend to prefer my downers country flavoured rather than heroin flavoured.
Who said that Lou Reed was in AC DC. Not me. AC DC is slang for bi sexual.
Try reading my post again.
Reed always projected himself as tough guy, mean laid back and switched on.
Not the type to be riding scooters.............more of an HD type.
Yep Reed was one of the great muso's that 'fliped the bird' to the establishment way sooner than most. Now he's flogging off Honda scooters.
Shit I could understand some Italian Jobs (that's in reference to scooters not the movie) Thought I had better explain that to avoid further confusion.
Berlin; it was panned at the time of it's release but is slowly being recognised for what it is, 'tour de force' on the pathos of heroin addiction. (my words)
So it's country and western downers in stead of heroin? Not much difference in my book. Shit is shit be it a cow pat or a drug.:jerry::jerry: Fuck I love the English language.

May I suggest "the gift" off "white light/white heat" as an interesting listen. May I also suggest "ocean" off Velvet underground live as an essential listen.

Lou Reed is cool! Anyone who can get that far in the music biz without actually singing has to have something special. Good songwriting and hanging with the right people.
Best album- New Sensations
Took my GPZ out for a ride, the engine felt good between my thighs.........
Yeah so he was bi, wasn't everyone back then?
