Ya did three years ago, would've frozen the balls off a brass monkey it was so cold. Climbed into the sleeping bag in full leathers with thermals underneath and me boots still on and could'nt warm up. Even after a couple of dozen JD's. But, hey, it was all worth it and is still one of the best m/c rallies around.
Can't make it this year as am offshore for a short while but will be back there next year.

I don't think they would keep a record, but I may be wrong.
Last year was my first time there also. Fri, I didn't even get on site. Some locals saw me on the side of the road with a map, took me to the Patongata? pub for a beer or two:rolleyes:, then back to there place for a full on party.
Obviously they are now life long mates.:headbang:
Sat, was back to the pub, then the rally, set up tent, and hook back into it.
Now thats friendly locals!
We had a dozen m/cycles of all brands mixing it up together. (Guzzi's, Beemers, Duc's, and even a Maico, plus a few Triumphs, and even a old Bultaco motocrosser came up the street).
Not missing it this year.:woohoo:

The pub btw has been taken over by "Dutchy" and family, the old owners of the Wimbleton Pub. The Wimbleton Pub is having the fuel tanks removed, so from now on I wouldn't rely on it for a fuel stop, which is a shame.

Head to the Potangata pub for a rendevous, with others, and get to the site about midday sat.
Will give you a tinkle once the plan is known.

Lol, I know the Napier Taupo road well... It will be cold but it's bout the best I can do!

Seeing as I can't drink any more I would be much colder staying there the 2 nights than I would be for just the 2 hours home... I would rather the shorter amount of shivering :baby:

they (the organisers)might be a little reluctant to let people in who say they are just coming for the day,if you look at it from their point of view you could pay for the day visit(if you can)then bunk in with your mates who've maybe brought a big tent?

Yeah that fair enough too, but if you pay full gate charges it's skin off no ones nose eh...
Another reason I did'nt take you up on the offer of a site is I don't own a tent either.

Saw Al and Sarah off for a scoot and nearer town saw Lance heading home. Nice soak in the bath. Will get onto cleaning the kit tomorrow as I've taken the day off to recover. Only got about an hours sleep. Well someone had to look after the fire:devil2:, didn't they?

Cool to meet a few more KBer's, and catch up with a few people I hadn't seen for a while.

Good to see that despite our ass offs (aye Al) that we all give a hand! If my ankle hadn't packed up last night it would have been another great evening of dancing and drinking. Got drunk,
got wet (ankle deep - and that was just inside the tent!),
found out my boots aren't waterproof,
boogied hard (good bands),
rode as hard as I could,
ate lots of MEAT!,
grew a giant mono-dreadlock,
made it out of the driveway without arseing over (thanks to some assistance from my Sinfull yet ever helpful honey),
managed to avoid drunkenly entering the titty show and
even showered once...
All in all a good weekend. Thanks to all who made it so.:2thumbsup

yeah impossible task i am thinking he is a wee man s**t  I am sure I have the evidence of that spew .. well he could not misbehave as he was well & truly tied up today but was able to give ppl the evil eye if they got to close to my rear tire.

he then ended up down my top when I gave back some of the gear i borrowed for the weekend & had a cuppa before being tied up again (he quite likes bondage)

he will be getting around the neighbourhood with pics to follow in the next few weeks before he moves on to the next victim ..

awesome weekend dunno about it being a cold duck more a wet one but total fun ..

:sweatdrop at the mud leaving today & thanks to the crew I latched on to, as one came to make sure I made it through the worse of it unscathed, it was much appreciated .

Thanks to U4ea for the company on the way up on the new bike .. loving it for sure & Sarge for the cuppa on Fri and company to PN today .. and Sels1 & Gareth51 (happy birthday again) til just through the gorge

Sobering news to hear about the biker who crashed & condolences to his freinds & family

much quieter trip home for sure

Passed a harley just out of shannon who had obviously broken down, so turned around to see if they were ok & apparently I was the only one to stop & offer assistance (quite a number of bikes went passed) .. quick phone call to rottiguy(had just dropped off tent to dry out in his garage, Thanks mate) to bring some tools but got it sorted just as he pulled up .. so hope you got home safely

well the bike got another bath before being put to bed .. ahhh next adventure to deliver betsy up north next weekend :D

talking to a friend today who has been to all of the cold ducks and she said it was the wettest one ever:shutup:And here I was thinking it was normal. At least the ride in is shorter than the Cold Kiwi. The only issue Gerble had getting out was getting up the slope out in the "play" area. Took three goes but got there in the end.

Brill ride home. Ended up going through Flemington. Nice unsealed stretch thats doable on any road bike.

Milo's trailer setup was a hoot. Especially liked the usage of plastic wrap to catch unsuspecting ralliests(SP) trying to take shortcuts to their tents at night.

Other points of interest were a young lad used a late model gsx250 for firewood haulage. Well done that man. Gerble donated some fuel for the fire then was put to use to jumper a VW powered trike. Oh and lets not forget the BMW that didn't like staying upright and the Busa that was assisted in keeping a straight line by a couple of drunken blokes ;)
