WAHOOO!!!! Man what a lunchtime!

Well decided to get to the bike shops and see what’s out there... as I have not really decided on what new toy I might like.... soooooooo wiggling with anticipation off I headed...

First off the rank was a 2001 SV650s, all important it was blue :) I literally was bouncing waiting to take the baby for a spin.....
So off up the Port Hills round Lyttelton and by then the decision was made!!

Great bike, fun to ride, I’m toooo tall for it
My knees sit too high by the tank and generally it was quite an uncomfortable ride.

So that decision made, back to the shop and tomorrow I am taking out a Ducati 800 :whari: and its Black! ;)

Geez it’s a hard life, so many bikes and I plan to test ride as many as possible….

Try a later version of your old ride. If you are tall, it might be worth considering.

How many test rides from one store is too many? There's several bikes I want to test ride but I'm not sure if I'm pushing my luck with the local dealers as I've taken a few bikes out but haven't bought anything.

It'd depend on the bike store and the people who work there, don't ya reckon? I mean surely, if you're on good terms with the local shop, they'll let you have a few extra runs, and if you're deciding it's the only way to go... How many bike shops are in your area? There must be more than one you can go pester, surely.

I'm close to Wellington so there are several stores luckily. I've test rode several at TSS and think I'm pushing my luck there. I've bought bikes off Motomart and Motorad so they shouldn't be a problem. Crasherfromwayback knows me off here so knows I'm unlikely to buy anything I test ride at Wellington Motorcycles where he works. My old Boss at Maidstone Yamaha knows how I ride so is totally against me riding anything he owns :p

The son of the guy who owns TSS is a mate of mine now. He's in my class at Weltec.

all i can say is...
whisper ducati ducati ducati ducati...
i rode the sv's thought they were nimble and fun, BUT lacked finish and edge... didn't make the soul sing like the duc. there's just something so raw and savage about the ride, the clutch and the sound-but also v. precise. also my maintainance costs have been just about zero and my bike hd 26000kms when i bought it and now its got 38000 - just a service and tune -no parts were required and she runs like a beast...

You know Jerms is looking at buying that SV650.. he's might not be to happy if you buy it :P

He'd probably get a large arse cruiser but doesn't want one under 1 litre, and his budget is to restricting as he's going overseas later this year!

If you end up buying from there... would you be interested in buying a $200 voucher for that shop off me for $175? I won it in a bike show and well.. that shop really doesn't have anything I'd buy and they wanted $600 to service my bike and I said to myself.. STUFF THAT!

Keep it cool lizzy girl

I'll be keen to hear your opinion on the GSX-F750! I think it's a lot of bike and good value on NZ roads. I had the 600, an earlier version and thought it about ideal as a road bike.

This baby rides like a dream, has an aftermarket pipe so makes the Grrrr sounds that I like and has no problems with the get up and go, all the while being one of the most confortable bikes that I have ever had the pleasure of riding.

Absolutely nothing, apart from the fact that you can only ride one at a time :)

Deep in the distant past (before kids) when I had two bikes I would often be out riding the other - and wishing I was on the Ducati :)

1. TL1000S.... YUM YUM YUM....what a fun bike, had it cruising around the hills with ease and loved the power and sound... nice to ride and was surprised that the riding position did not get uncomfortable... worth another look and ride!!!

2. Triumph Speed Triple.... what a disappointment after the TL... I liked riding this bike but totally does not suit my 'nana' style of riding, but glad I got the chance to take it out.

3. Ducati ST2 .... SWOON!!!!!!
I got on this beautiful beast and it fitted like a glove, what a rush to get onto a bike that just felt right.... had this thing lower around the corners like I never have with another bike, could have stayed on this beauty for hours!!

Thanks to Dean at Sportzone!

1. KAWASAKI ZR750 2004
Not bad, was a lot of fun, nice and light, found it was battering me around a little on the open road due to the lack of any screen. Excellent bike to have fun on but just did not feel right

2. Suzuki 2008 GSX650F
YUMMY! What a great bike, blew the 750F that I took out last week out of the running!! Great bike, corners well, has the speed to be dangerous!! :devil2: Loved this bike.

SpeedyGirl
12th July 2008, 13:34
Well i finally got off my butt and decided that the weather was nice enough to get out there and test ride a few more bikes.....still have not decided what to buy....

so first out of the garage was a VTR1000, now this is a fun bike! The seating position was a little uncomfortable, but otherwise the bike was easy to handle, enough power and great sound with aftermarket pipes. Grrrr....
It is in the running but sadly did not fall in love with it ...

so after bringing it back in to the store the guys gave me a Honda Hornet 900 to take for a blat, not something that i would have considered but i decided to give it a go anyway.... and was surprised! This girl can kick ass, she has more power than i origionally expected, and once i got a handle on the more upright position it was a lot of fun, not sure about the naked bike tho... but will take it out for another try when i have more time

then off down the road and Dean gave me the option of any bike there!! Well who am i to say no!!! So out came the SV1000... now after the disappointing ride on the sv650 i was not expecting a lot, but the thou is a beast all of its own... sounded like sex on wheels, looks like sex on wheels! enjoyed the ride but found it a little heavy for me especially cornering.

so next week its an Aprilla Falco and whatever takes my fancy ;) oh the sad thought of trying more bikes, how will i cope!!!
