Had a scary moment this moring on the way to work. Was on the inside lane traveling at about 45 km next to a bus. i could see myself in his mirrors so i know that he could see me if he looked and as always i was wearing my highvis jacket because it is dark when i go to work in the morning.
The wanker didn't even indicate just pulled over and just about took me out!!! i grabed a fist and pedel full of my brakes to aviod and managed to pull my bike up withuot binning the thing! thank christ! unfortunatly the cars behind me didn't fair so well. The one directly behing me stop well (thankyou to the man that incented ABS) but unfortnatly the 2 behind him ran directly into one another!
It was only a low speed crash but it gave me a hell of a fright!
Everyone was alright but there was a little damage to there cars. STUPID BUS!

So after riding for 5 days i have noticed a couple of things.
I am invisable!
I need a bigger horn for my bike
there is no such thing as a short ride.
Always take you phone with you (my wife freaked with i went out for 1 hour and didn't come back for 2 1/2.)
I have cut 20min off my trip to work and 45 mins off the trip home by riding!

Thanks to all the boy last night that i meet at the AWMNR that was very good and informative. I would recommend that all new rides like me attened what i learnt last night has made a differance already to my riding i will be going again next week.
Hopefully will see you all there again.

Uh, I may be mistaken, but you say you could see yourself in his mirror? You need to be able to see HIM in his mirror before he will see you.

Also, busses are evil, I never sit next to one. There is a huge blind spot for them, and it's just not worth it because they're all bastards anyway ;)

Gutted mate, but do get a Stebel. (See Here. (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=69553)) That's the one that I was playing with last night. Works so well, I just about fell my own bike after it gave me such a scare.

Awesome.

Yep very handy. My stock horn is loud but sounds like "meep meep" too much for my liking. Not sure a cage driver would hear it over their stereo.

Obstacle finally picked up his magnum from the last stebel round and lent it to me to try. It's sitting on my desk at work. Will be installing it this weekend :)
