Hello everyone,
With two of my friends we had a plan to go to Coromandel for Easter for a 3 days gravel ride. For various reasons we can not go there but we do not want to sit at home or do Easter egg hunting. Is anyone can recommend 1 day gravel or light trail (Pirelli MT90, MT70 and Michelin Sirac tyres are on the bikes ) rides around Auckland? If you want to join to us you are welcome or we are happy to join others. I am talking about Saturday and Sunday.

Having a look down the west coast is one of the nicest 1 day gravel/tar routes I know out of Aucks, start Port Waikato & hug the coast as much as possible down to Raglan. Continue down to Kawhia if time permits then back up the other side of the hill & a nice road run back up SH22.
There are a few options like Ruapuke for a fang on the beach on the way too if the tide is right (but be responsible, we don't want to be giving more reasons to ban vehicles on all beaches & they may be busy)
Cheers

Do you have a GPS Andrew? I'm keen for data for my web site (see my signature).

Unfortunately I have no GPS but I am OK with maps. I could not see routes around AKL on your website. Is the Safari browser going mad again or you have not too much around there? Anyway, thank you for the site I will keep an eye on it. Andrew

Thank you for the ideas. The tour is started to take a shape.
1st day Sat) AKL-Hamilton on sh22 (someone will join to us there) then Hamilton-Te Uku Landing-Kauri Flat-Matira-Waikaretu-Limestone Downs-Port Waikato-AKL
2nd day Sun) AKL-Puhoi-Ahuroa-Hoteo-(maybe a loop on Okahukura Peninsula)-Back on sh16 to AKL.
On Monday I will give an escort back to Hamilton. The route is undecided.

Not much in the whole of the north island as I'm still trying to find people up that way with a GPS to supply me data :D Safari doesn't show the web page quite correctly - lots of red text.
Good luck with the ride.
