Shit - $7500 is a bunch of money for a plain old 770 with an ugly paint job.

Is finance available on the car I wonder? <_<

Yes they are but the General Lee's are not a Valiant Charger. They are a Dodge. Totally different.

General Lee was a 69 Charger. Of the Dodge (American) variety. When I had my E38 we saw a couple of Maori blokes in an orange Valiant Charger with the confederate flag and an 01 on the side in Welly, might have been the one you saw. That was ironic too :D There's a heee-uge difference between an Ausie and American Charger. There's actually a bloody nice 68 on tardme now for a cool 68K.

One of the original tv series cars recently sold in the US, after being restored, for 11 million. I shit you not.

Haven't seen any for sale for a while now, but I believe a nice E49 will easily fetch over a hundred now. Not bad for a car that cost three and a half brand new.

There's a really sweet E55 replica for sale the dude wants 40 grand for.

I'd love an E55! Where's that one?

Skunk Control just wants me to get another Charger...

They're increasing in price faster than I can save. Stock 770's go for around the $12K mark.

Here's (http://www.moparconnection.co.nz/index.html) an NZ site for Mopars.

*Mutters darkly of long lost toys*

Apparently my old '71 Buick Skylark drophead coupe recently sold for an obscene sum, well over ten times what I got for it. :brick:

Like a lot of cars and bikes that have become ''collectible'' and fetch stupid prices....and legends of no substance - they were pretty common and just cars in their day.Valiants of that era were pretty crappy, bad interiors....I welded many seats back together, and top inners ripped out of the chassis.I never liked the 6 cyl Hemi - the Slant 6 was one of the best engines ever made, the Hemi was a piece of shit in comparison.Too much cam gear end float caused a rattle and gave fluctuating timing, and a surge.Head gaskets were common, and gasket sets came with a recommendation to use Hyloma as a sealer. They had no cranking vacuum and so were a real shit to get tuned for gas....using a manometer you had to restrict the intake down to about 20mm to get enough signal to suck the gas.

Last one I worked on was a resto.....we did the mechanicals, pulled the engine, did the twin plate clutch, brakes, including the internal pipe down the sill.It was still a pain to set those triple Webers up,I prefered the SU's.I couldn't get filters, and had to get some foam ones made up locally. An old friend of mine sold his one a few years ago - it was a real sleeper, made to do the Auck/Well run back in the '80's.It was turbo'd,putting out 450hp and over 500ft/lbs of torque,a huge custom tank in the boot...funny making a sleeper out of a performance car,but this thing was really fast.

My brother has a factory orange E49 with the sexy six pack, and put it up for sale on Tardme a couple of years or so ago.

It didn't quite meet reserve, only got to something like 55k - so he's decided to keep it.

I keep offering to drive it for him, you know, being the obliging little brother and making sure it doesn't collate too many cobwebs etc etc... bastard keeps muttering something about hell and snowballs...

I believe he has been contacted of late, and figures up to 90s and beyond have been mentioned, but it would mean the beast going overseas, and he won't allow that.

Mind you, it IS a fucking nice car... was used as the bridal car for mine and the Mrs D'd wedding.

Ah well...

I aggree with your brother mate, we need to do our best to keep these cars in NZ.

If I had enough equity in a house I'd be shouting out to your bro to look after that Charger for myself.
