Well the weather was fine, the wife and the outlaws had decided to take the kids shopping up in Hamilton... They decided it would probably not be my thing shopping for plants etc so she sugested that i may like to go for a ride..

Say no more!

Managed to break down three times between Taupo and Turangi... Finally made it to Turangi and it appeared the little gremlin had gone... So off we went!

First i decided i wanted to explore the Rangapo power station and all the superstructures that went with it, Quite a project completed in 1983, Two workers lost their lives during the project. Some photos:

Ok, Lack of gravel.... How can we solve this problem... Hey what is that lump over there???

Ah... now thats one road i have always wanted to have a look up!

Soft sand, loose rock......... Yeee Haaaaaaaaaa!!!

Sadly the gate was locked up by the top, I could see a way around it, but if i stuffed up in the sand and dropped the bike into the rocks... would i be able to get it out by myself.... Still was a great view and a good ride!

You should be able to auction off inlaws like these here and make a small fortune...

Nice! There are some surprisingly huge structures sprouting out of the bush in the middle of nowhere around there above all the underground hydro scheme.

Getting a key for the gate on the Tukino rd is no problem, check with DOC for the contact, I picked up a key from one of the Tukino ski club guys in Taupo when we went down for a look a while back.

Cheers
