Hi everyone.
I am just interested in doing a rider training course to cut do the length of my restricted license. I searched the threads here but had no luck even though I have read about others doing it on here. Just couldn't seem to find those threads again. Even searched google without much success.
Am just wondering who takes these road riding courses. I would prefer to do one in Chch or Nelson or something, so I could ride there and back but would consider Wellington.
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

I did mine with "RoadSafe riding school"
They are in Wellington, And it cost about $275(I think)
They do cut downs for getting restricted and full.
Good luck. :cool2:

Andrew and Lynne are outstandingly good tutors. Mrs H and I did the CBTA with Roadsafe just over a year ago.

Stephens Riding School (Lower Hutt) might do one.

Stephens integrates with Roadsafe for the bike stuff.

We enjoyed it a lot. Very practically oriented, lots of good tips and tricks and the chance to practice these. Braking at speed, pillion riding, cornering and turning techniques. The great thing too is that when you pass you get to ride home with a full Class 6 license!

I just did a Defensive Driving Course in '02 which only cost $90.

What's your point? You can save more money running behind a taxi than running behind a bus? If you'd sat out your time it wouldn't have cost you anything.

My point is that if you are only wanting to decrease your restricted license period then there are cheaper alternatives to doing a $275 course.

I'm not aware of the defensive driving course option. I don't recall reading anything about it in the Road Code. Do you get a full class 6 license at the end of the course? Do you do anything practical or just watch videos and answer a few questions?

Hitcher makes a good point, its a cheaper than doing the defensive driving and then booking your license. Besides a defensive driving course is a cheap way out, sure it reduces the time you need but it doesnt nessesarly teach you better skills, thats up to you.

Thanks for that. I will keep roadsafe in mind but hopefully someone does it in the top half of the Sth Island so I can :ride: there and back.
Becomes even more expensive to get myself and my wheels across the Strait as well as the course cost. Hmmm.
I'll maybe call them. They may know an agency in the south.
