View Full Version : Will KK Fall off within first 10 track days

Who thinks *when i do finally get out there* i will arse-off within the first 10 track days/races?

Intersting topic as everyone seems to say definatly, and not just because its me, but because it happens etc, yet my old man has faith :S -he honestly doesnt think you have to crash to be good etc, having run in F3 centuries ago and never crashing... (apparently he only ever ran off puke's hairpin once thinking he was playing braking games, then to jsut ride back onto the track) :Offtopic:

What?
18th August 2003, 06:31
Lemmesee... race bike maintained with a power drill, hammer and fencing pliers. Tyres only 20 years old, and with the odd patch of rubber showing around the canvas...

WHY would anyone think you are likely to step off, KK??????????

:(:):o:D:p:eek::eek::eek::confused::gob::nice one:

KK You are asking us all to state the bloody obvious!!!!!!! :D I voted you would and that it would be your fault beacause it is never the bikes fault!!!

Even if something (like say a handlebar for example :p ) falls off it is not the fault of the bike, it is the riders fault for not checking it.

If you understood the value of good tyres I would have considered voting differently................ BUT you don't

I just hope you don't go hurting your pip squeek little ass :buggerd:

am I mistaken in thinking that this poll is pointless given that you've already binned your ZXR400 on the jennian homes sweeper!?

hence thd dodgy handlebar... and discussion about shagged tyres... and goodness knows how many other comments concerned with your lack of regard for the condition of your machinery??

haha, nice poll KK :)

wheres the option for binning it within 3 track days?

just kidding mate, never met or ridden with you, only know of a few stories...:niceone:

Sorry kk I'm with the duke, besides if you talk to any serious racer falling off is part of the learning curve. To paraphrase Aaron Slight - if you never fall off you don't push hard enough, if you fall off too much you are pushing to hard. Sorry not a direct quote but something similar was in his book "You don't know the half of it".

so if you don't go down as a rookie due to dodgy tires, you probably will as a result of a rub. Get used to the idea before you go out thenyou will only end up with broken bones not a broken spirit. I have only ever raced pushbike (ten years and 50kg ago), But going down is a fact of racing when you have that many tetosterone powered males around. Your best bet is to hope you have more wins than bins!

Fark it your there to have fun, if your worrying about binning it you will, if you want to win more than you fear binning it you will.
(basic sports phsycology you subconcious gives you what you think about the most)

Well thats my 2c worth, fully recommend Slights book Waitakere library has a copy or two. It's a good read with lots of psycology/strategy type stuff.

Thanks for that bigdog.. and i do have faith in myself :) and if i do come off too bad, - ill just take the abuse from my old man :)

and mitch, is it still the riders fault even if he did check the handle bar? (regardless of weather it was cracked or not :P)

Why is KK asking us this question when he has yet to convince us he'll even get ON the track.

Like ive been saying for months.. SEPTEMBER 14 I AM AIMING for to go to Tracktime - a good excuse to run in slow novice class and literally humm around hte track slowly because bike hasnt been run in yonks/ivenever ridin it b4.. then later in day ill stick race muffler on etc make some small mods and check difference in feel.

aiight :) but now its gunna b a rush to get her out there by then, my goals are not quite being achieved and so now i wont have front fairing mounted, however i have compramised that for replacing needed brakepads and braided lines. So i am thinking a little more saftey then usual :) also the front tyre has an egg in one side, but i dont have time to change that.. ill just take the left handers a little easy :)

Correct me if I'm wrong but Tracktime isn't racing.:(

And that is what the poll is about, isn't it?:gob:

haha dave u smartarse :P jhehee

and i know tracktime isnt racing - but as poll says, race/trackdays, this bike is for fun, half the fun is in doing the work on it, i spend every hour i can/my mind can handle b4 i get frustrated, on it, and im loving it, and once its done, i may just keep taking it to $80 open/practise days if thats all im good enuf for.. it will still be fun, and im even buying a VFR400 street, which i will get good at stripping fast, and give to my dad for track days so me and him can have heaps of fun, that is my main main main dream above all :) to oneday be out there on the track alongside (or behind as it will be) my old man. But you guys/randomers will do as fill-ins :p

Where's the option for "no, cos his bike wont pass scruteneering" :p

Kwaka-Kid
9th January 2004, 19:40
hahahha, well it wouldnt pass if they asked me to take off my homemade fibreglass rearend, to show my homemade subchassis and my rear end "mods"... if you can call just cutting stuff off with the kitchen scissors to save weight a mod... :P

back to the point, ive now done 1 tracktime, 2 track open day, and 3 race days... without falling off my racebike... most have been wet too i think. Over half way there, please god give me what it takes to at least pass 10 - better yet not come off at all (close calls and scares are fine tho sir, its all part of the fun, and i know you aint been holding out on me there so far!)... which reminds me, need to bring at least 2 changes of underwear to taupo in 2 weeks time...

Doesn't matter anyway. I went to AMCC yesterday night to renew my shit but no one was there... So I won't be able to make it to Taupo.

I'm planning to be at Taupo on the 18th to give the Kr250 a run on their track. Also be at the Puke track day on the 16th. So hopefully won't do anything silly to stuff the bike before the 18th race day.
And remember! You've had more race/Track time than I've had, so I'm still the "Newbe" here!
Yes, I know,,,,,the excuses are starting already!

Hate to say it, but it would be the rare beastie that DIDN'T have even a small ding in 10 trips to the track. Not just KK. And stop being so blimmin awful to him. At least he's giving it a go.

Usually you get 2 or 3 practice sessions in the morning.

Check the stuff you've been sent from the club running the meet - should have a schedule for the day.

MR have a look at the race tracks link in the site--ittll show you what the track looks like --send me your e mail addy and Ill send ya an entry form for taupo.
you as a novice get 1 practice session of 8 minutes with only other novices. -thatll be about 12 laps.
then you will have a f2 practice of 8 laps before you go out to race.
Dont sweat it dude. Its a nice easy little track.
If it seems to be like -"nope this is jumping in at the deep end " You can always go out and race clubmans class for your first race. Then you can suck it and see for the rest of the day--maybee do the last two races in f2
Call me if ya get stressed out over it dude -Its gonna be fine you will have a ball
Think of me--my bike is still in a million pieces on the workshop floor -those bits I actually do have that is -and I still havent got my tyres or brakes sorted yet.--eeepp now Im worried lmao

MR Taupo is great. Unfortuantly i made the mistake of stressing myself out WAY too much my first time there, which wasnt a good thing. however my 2nd time i was not nearly as nervous (still bloody nervous however :P) and even entered F1/2 for a race which i thought was great because it gave me more track time and i didnt care about placing anyway! So tell yah what i might even do that this time, and if they run F1/2 Seperate then it could be worth entering F1 aswell, doesnt cost anymore, gives you more experience so you learn the track faster ready for next time, and i doubt you will even get lapped, its so small - i didnt! (and i was just putting away)
