View Full Version : My GSX-R750 needs to go from Auckland to Taupo on 3 Apr, then back - any volunteers?

Specifically, my conundrum is as follows.
On the evening of Thursday 3 April, I'm riding from Auckland to Taupo on Betty (my GSX1400).
On Friday 4 April, I'm doing the MotoTT trackday.
I'd really like to have the Snail (my GSX-R750 SRAD) there too, but I can't face riding it down - my knees would kill me. I also can't be arsed hooking up a trailer, loading it up and driving down; I'd spend an extra $100 on gas and I don't want to forego the ride on Betty to and from Taupo.
So I'm after one of the following:
A. Some sorry bastard with nothing better to do who'll hop on the Snail, come for a ride to Taupo with me on Thursday night, come to the trackday (I'd be taking the Snail out in the Group 2 sessions; if you wanted to book into the trackday yourself and ride it in a different group I'm sure that could be arranged) and then ride it back to Auckland at their convenience;
or
B. Someone who's already heading to the trackday in a car or van, has spare space for another bike and is amenable to receiving sexual services, hard liquor or fuel costs from me in return for hauling the Snail to and fro.
If neither of the above is forthcoming, not to worry; I'll just stick with riding Betty down and using her at the trackday.
But if anyone's up for it, do let me know.
If you're thinking of riding the Snail down with me on Thursday night, I have been instructed that kiwifruit may house you if you're considered an 'OK cunt'. Also, you can ride back at your leisure; either scoot back up on Friday evening if you're in a hurry, or do your own thing for the rest of the weekend and get the bike back to me when you return to Auckland.

Sorry mate, although tempted - sexual services are cheaper on Manchester Street than a return flight to Auckland. So I can't really justify the extra expense ;)
Hope you work something out!

Hmmmm... I could probably borrow a trailer but then I'll end up missing out on the ride down. Bit of a dilemma really.

No, no, don't do that.
I don't want to deprive anyone of their ride down, etc. Just looking for a trailer that's already going down with spare space on it, or someone who would otherwise have been twiddling their thumbs in Auckland for the day and fancies a ride.

Tempting.....
1) Where is the snail gargred? Your work, home or other?
2) What happens if the snail has a lie-down?

It's at home on the North Shore.
2) What happens if the snail has a lie-down?
If you chuck it down the road, you pay the $500 insurance excess.
I'd be inclined to suggest that anyone planning on using it for the trackday arranges their own insurance for the occasion. My trackday policy only covers me as a rider.

I should probably mention, at this point, that the Snail is not the world's prettiest SRAD 750.
It may, in fact, be the world's ugliest, with its hand-modified race fairings with little lights stuck on to make it road legal, patches of bog here and there and matt black spraypaint which still mostly covers the fuel tank.
The Ohlins suspension, noisy Yoshi exhaust, recently rebuilt engine head and Continental RaceAttacks that it's wearing do make up for that slightly.
You won't pull any (sane) chicks on it, though, I'm afraid.

But it is road legal and is likely to pass scutineering?
And sane chicks are boring.

Sounds wonderful. Shame I'm in Wellington.

Road legal, certainly, and the MotoTT team have already been bribed up-front with psychoactive substances to turn a blind eye to any remaining minor shortcomings.
sane chicks are boring.
Unfortunately, yes; I appear (entirely unintentionally) to have lived most of my life to date by that maxim.

It doesn't even have a full rear subframe or pillion seat; just a bit of black plastic race cowling sticking out the back.
This motorcycle is a pilots-only model.

Of course if the snail was AT MY WORKSHOP where it rightfully should be. It would look a whole lot nicer by now :angry2:

Only just found the last piece of the fairings a day before Easter, dude. Two Smoker had stolen it and hidden it under his bed.
And I wanted to ride it over the weekend.
I'll give you a yell, eh?

It's fairly sturdy plastic; I think he may have been using it as a shield against flying crockery.
Chloe has quite a good aim.

Frosty made me an offer I couldn't refuse and bought the Snail last night.
The Snail is dead; long live the Snail!
(Sorry, guys, I guess this means I can't bring it to the trackday, given that I kinda don't have it any more. Thank you to all the OK Cunts (tm) who fronted up with offers!)

If i was going I'd offer to ride it for you as i don't worry about pulling chicks!

I don't own it any more; you'd have to convince Frosty to hand over the keys, now.

I would have expected it to have been cleaned prior to sale. Tui, anyone?
