View Full Version : FOR SALE: Gorgeous 2004 ZX-10R

Update: I'm not selling the bike, hit up AMPS, they now own it.
My Dream bike is up for sale. I still love it to bits... so why am I selling it? Well, I have collected a few too many naughty points within 2 years (just) so its best it isn't sitting around my house, taunting me for 3 months to do something REALLY stupid. :oi-grr:
Fitted with the following bits:
- Braided Brake lines all round
- MotovationUSA Fork, Frame, Swingarm Crash Bungs
- Hand made custom Radiator Guard
- Hella CA1225XU H7 Low and High Beam (+50% over normal bulb)
- Super White Park Bulbs (should have a couple of spares kicking around too)
- ZX6 Raidal Master Cylinder
- Fabbri Dark Smoke Racing Screen
- Pipercross a/m Air Filter (comes w/ cleaning spray)
- Screen bolts replaced with Black Bolts
- Gas Tank bolts have also been replaced with black ones
- HyperPro CSC Steering Damper
- Solo Seat Cowl
- Clear Alternatives Smoked Flush Mount Front Indicators
- Clear Alternatives Smoked Integrated Taillight (Indicators are inside the taillight)
- Racefit Growler Pipe with Removable baffle
- PCIII USB
- Scott Oiler
- License Plate Hanger and a/m Plate Light
- Stock Suspension has been professionally rebuilt and set up for 100kg
Also, comes with all the related stock bits that have been pulled off, and:
- Pillion Seat
- Vortex Pipe Hanger
- Stock Hugger (a modified one is fitted to take a taller tyre)
- Exhaust Butterfly has been disabled
- Secondary Throttle butterflies have been removed (they come with bike - if you want to put them back in)
Bike has been on the dyno, comes with 2 custom maps (one for baffle, one without). She made 154 with baffle, 157 without, and the torque curve is heaps better without the baffle. Be warned the sound is addictive sans baffle! Bike has never been crashed/raced/dropped, has been to one track day. Currently fitted with Conti SportAttack tyres, 190/55 on the rear with at least 2-3000km left in them, and they are brilliant.
Professionally serviced roughly every 6000km and chain and sprockets were replaced at the 18k service.
Ouch, looking back, I've done a fair bit to her... Anyway, no tyre kickers wasting my time, serious sale for serious buyers. Test rides will only be allowed with proof of ability to buy etc. Mileage may change, as I may still ride her a little (nasty man removing license hasn't visited just yet). Any questions, ask away :)

Not to hijack your thread but a tip on keeping your license:
IF some of your demerit points are due to expire in the near future you can do the following to keep your license.
Demerit points are only officially tacked on to your record when the fine is paid. You can therefore probably see where this is going... If you deliberately withhold payment of the fine long enough to allow some of your previously accured demerit points to expire, you may then be able to pay the fine and keep your overall demerit points below lose-your-license-levels.
Be prepared to incur overdue penalties and all sorts of nastly letters from the courts. However stay true to the cause and leave it till the last possible minute i.e. when a warrant is about to be issued for your arrest - this however will take some months i.e. up to half a year.
I have not personally exploited this loop hole, though it was revealed to me by an ex-cop recently.
Good luck!!

Demerit points are only officially tacked on to your record when the fine is paid.
Correct, or else when you've used up the two month period before the fine is transferred to the courts for collection. So you can't defer processing for longer than two months.
Doesn't help, though. The points are backdated to the date of the offense, and if they would have taken you over 100 at that point, you're up for a three-month licence holiday.
I know this because I only escaped said holiday by four days grace last year, and spent quite some time on the phone to LTNZ about it during that period.
We've covered the subject before.

look mate, it ain't worth as little as a gixxer (I heard 2 months was standard for them anyway) and what kind of pitiful difference would 1 month make ;)
Could you do my 3 months penance for me since you wont have a bike ??
urrr gotta sell it first, and besides... "do the crime, do the time" (lalalala :bash:). Damnable laws :crybaby:
Macstar: Yes, I gathered that when they sent me a reminder 1 month after the issued date (and I paid the previous day or something). Howled with laughter when they said delaying payment wasn't worth it. Urrr... $400 fine, $30 for the first month, $100 for the next. A limited license app will be approx $150. Only problem was final "incident" was late jan, and I had to survive until june ish I believe. I cover thousands of k per month in work alone, so it probably wouldn't have worked, but yes, quite possible
edit: ah, the age of experience... jrandom has nailed it... so no... still poked :weep:

Cheers mate, costly as slip ons go, but its damn wicked. Found I actually ride a gear higher around town when without the baffle, because it really does attract attention.
Now, I forgot my manners... mention of dyno work should require the results, so they are attached. It really does feel much more free without the baffle, and hoists the front very easily.
I found this out when passing a boy racer off the lights, and I had spent the previous 8-9 days on a blackbird. Needless to say... bloody quick reminder what I was riding... bear in mind I can't wheelie for shit (and have really tried a couple of times)

Wrong.
The are current from when the fine is paid.
I have very extensive experience with this, and have paid every single fine AFTER the 1 month notice has come out, and as close as possible to the 2 month mark.
Thats a point... I still gots to pay $950 before april the 18th....

Looks roughly correct... I live in the real world mate, ie, RWHP, not crank :bleh: Ask Jimmy, I think his k7 is getting 153 (can't compare dynos blah blah, yes, apparently both of our dynos are under-reading ones too, and I never aimed for peak HP either)

Huh.. yours was on a dynojet.. you'd expect late 160's rwbhp at least!! Jimmies was on a factory pro... which you add 15% to compare to a dynojet.. so 154 +15% -= 177 rwbhp
so.. as i said.. who nicked ya ponies..???
ps.. if you think your '04 10 is putting out as much as jimmies k7 then your not in the real word bro ;)

when jimmy said his hp numbers in a thread a while ago, I even pm'd him about it, as I was quite stumped too...
Anyway, that ugly 06 10 near you has more than both jimmy and I, and he can't get the power down around corners, so whats it all worth? I don't need much more than a hundy to go just as fast as 150+ where it counts...
Anyway, as I said before, bike wasn't set up for peak hp, and would have more, if it was a wanking contest (it isn't is it?) but mid gear, mid revs the bike pulls a whole... lot... more than before. I kept sliding the front into corners until I realised I was going a whole heap faster than before.
Now... yours is smaller than mine, admit it :girlfight: and lets get back to the selling of our bikes :weep:

jimmies is on a teka tune.. as i said.. hence the low figures in compariosn to a dynojet.
your right; ive got a small weena BUT im giving your thread exposure ...!!
i gave up selling mine, no way on earth i was gonna get what i wanted for it.. i just wasnt gonna settle for a reaming.
good luck with selling this one.,. it is purdy !!!

too true... then again... its only worth what someone will pay eh?
Hope I do sell it... I can list it on my limited license... but I mean, I fooken hit 70 without effort, in first, and breaking the law on a l/l is REAAAAAL bad (as in, you'd choose bubba first).
I think the issue is the interest rates etc, everyone is selling toys etc hence very little buying. I want to sell so I can get something else later, without being ordered off the road for an additional 6 months or more :gob:
Your bike is just as purdy, I know the effort you've put into yours... must be the weird dodgy git you've got selling it for ya

26th March 2008, 22:18
Wrong.
The are current from when the fine is paid.
I know you think that this is the case, but that doesn't make it so.
Points are added to your licence when the fine is paid or two months after the ticket is issued if it's not, but the dates involved for the purpose of checking whether one goes over 100 points are all calculated back to the date of the offence.
I assure you that your current impression of the system is mistaken, and strongly suggest that you telephone LTNZ and ask for clarification before anyone you talk to on the subject gets sent barking up the wrong path.

because the slightest break of the law while riding will see me stuffed for a minimum of 6 months. Basically... I need my license as much as life itself, so its best to sell :crybaby:

If you promise to be a good boy, and obviously you break, you buy, yeah ok. After all, you and her combined will work the suspension nicely.
*Reads give me the girl, I'll take her for a ride :blip:*
In other news... buy my bike ya bastads... a lady is stealing me license on monday night :crybaby:

Then give the keys to someone you trust with instructions to return them only on a set date regardless of how much you beg, put the rego on hold for three months, and console yourself with merely polishing your pride and joy in the mean time. Oh, and polish the bike too.

Thought about that... doesn't work, as the house is under renovation, so having the bike all locked up, not able to move, could be an issue. Of course, I have spare keys... but then its a bit pointless. Selling it clears up some space.
Nah... its best to sell, I am even finding myself afraid to ride it... not because I can't handle it (its actually bloody good fun), its just that its a little too much fun, and I really don't need any more trouble (hah, the license lady paid a 2nd visit this afternoon, but I was away working again :D).
I find myself having much more fun on the hornet, don't need the excessive speed to do it, but I won't get one as a country ride, as its way too damn easy to peg the thing (at least I never pegged the 10).
Once I get my license back, I'll turn 25 shortly after that, premiums go down, and I'll go searching for something naked.

and I want to sell, so I don't go through the l/l grief again

Did you just take the secondary butterflys themselves out, or did you remove the rail also.
If you removed the rail the TPS would detect an FI error.
So i assume you have removed the plates only?

can't do the keys thing, in case it needs to be moved (house is under renovation - so space would actually be good)
Losing my license causes massive (and this is an understatement) imapact on a lot of people, so I really do need to try not going through this again... and this starts with a bike that breaches suburb limits much to easily (cops don't care if it was a sec, and accidentally). I also never bought it for the speed (although I did test it a little) and I'm finding nakeds are much more fun, and less speed involved.
Still love the damn bike tho, its bloody brilliant to ride :crybaby:

Don't know if he sold his or not, but I know he kept dropping it lower.
TBH, I need those dollars to eventually get something else, and I don't think I'm asking too much, as I'm nowhere close to breaking even (and I never expected to). The same model is sold elsewhere for the same, or more, with none of the candy, when this has all the candy plus stock stuff. Some of the bits aren't readily available in NZ either.
I guess I could strip it, but don't really want to, kinda spoils it, and I don't have the time.

Quite a few extras, and some others available if you are interested (can mix and match I guess), so lets say 12k, but negotiable :msn-wink:
Basically, at the mo, if she doesn't sell privately, it just means I have to buy from a shop that will trade...
