'Tis Easter, haven't been doing my usual quality and quantity of riding lately and I damn well wanted to make up for it!

Well on Friday, Donors ups and asks "fancy going to the 'tron for some Quasi visiting?" ... well not exactly that, but in the vernacular of it!

"Yes" sez I and I get the little ol'hornet out ready for a pootle southside!

Turns out even though I was ahead of Donor and his niece's boyfriend in the cage, I still turned up later then them to Quasi's! :o I got carried away with riding as you do...

Anyway one pair of kevlar's on the ol'card and stashed in Donor's cage, I announce that I feel like .. riding onto Wellington ... because thats what I do! Pootled my way around the middle of the NI, went through Desert Rd and hit Wellington around 7.30pm.

Texted Colapop and the Kendogs (thats all I had numbers for!) and got reply from Colapop "Bro, I be in Tauranga visiting Dumpty's!" or words to that effect. "Come up and see me bro ow!"

Had dinner at Hog's Breath cafe, watched the Cantabs bury the Waratahs and stomped around Wellington for a little while admiring the local scene (ahh, feels like home). Went to start the little ol'hornet and nada. Zip. Zilch. :gob:

Feel around, replace the 30amp fuse on the main switch and away we go, made a mental note to stop at first servo and buy out entire supply of fuses and got a spare halogen bulb at the same time (best $25 easily spent!)

Left Wellington around 11pm and got to Tauranga around 4am and headed to DMNTDs, woke up the household and Unit and Colapop and I had a bit of a natter before I got some shut eye around 6am (two bottles of V at Taihape makes gijoe1313 a bit more wired than usual! :eek5:)

Next day, got invited by the Tauranga crew to join in for a pootle and some grub in Coroglen .. sweets say I! Dealt with an incident before heading back to Auckland and back in Dorkies around 8pm at the end of Saturday. Blardy good to stretch out the ol'tyres on the little ol'hornet, had a bit of a rattle on the chain (loosening out! :sweatdrop)

1800km or so as the crow flies and a good days riding had by me! I was sore tempted when I was in Wellington to catch a late ferry and head over to see what the SI was like! :innocent: But somehow, the call of Colapop had me heading back to the Toe-ranges!

Looking back, mebbe I should have caught that boat over to the other side of the hills and see what McJim was up to! :shifty:

For my next trick, maybe a random ride up to Cape Reinga and down to Bluff... hmmm ....

Ah, just you wait. Your days are numbered.

Once your mother gets you married off, you won't be so footloose and fancyfree. You'll have a 'little list' like the rest of us. Oh yes, you are the prime topic of conversation at the maj-jong evenings , I'm sure. Options are being canvassed , probably even as we speak. Lists of suitable candiates drawn up. Even venues compared .

Enjoy your salad days while you may .

Gather ye rose-buds while ye may,
Old Time is still aflying,
And this same flower that smiles today,
Tomorow will be wed.

(Yes, yes, all right then, I *am* jealous)

Ixion : you've been talking with my mother haven't you? :pinch: Yep, that would be about the size of it, when she was in China not too long ago, she was taking notes and talking to the local ladies .. :gob:

One day, I think dear old mama will lock away my bikes and say they will not be returned till I have found a suitable spouse! :weep: I durst say you in your salad days would have done far more interesting rides on far more interesting bikes and meeting far more interesting peoples and events!

Mayhap I am just trying to capture the spirit of biking and feeding that perpetual need to "pootle" (a Freudian reaction to my impending nuptials that are in store for me? :eek5:)

Mrs Kendog : I was thinking of riding around the locality of where you live, revving away on the little ol'hornet, but thought that would be too random even for me! :innocent:

And to the rest of you reading my usual dissertation of diatribe and meandering muses of a most disconcerting design, I dare say that you are only the same thought wavelength as me .... certifiably crazy! :msn-wink:

gasp! :eek5: If I do that, I would fall in love with Betsy straight away and would probably want to add her to my harem! :sweatdrop :o

I'm doing all in my power to limit myself to 2 bikes this year :weep: I bought one... Pippi... and my little ol'hornet wants to have his older brother come in and take some of the effort off it!

Hmmm... sure sounds like a good excuse to go for a ride... :scooter:
