View Full Version : Bike stolen (North Shore, 25 March 2008)
Disco Dan
25th March 2008, 06:45
1993 Kawasaki ZX11
Stolen between 1am - 4am from Halberg Street, Glenfield North Shore
REG: 85UGG
Please either contact me on 021 2950 352 or call the police with ANY information.
Third picture is most recent taken last week, shows the new damage down right hand side and indicator damage. Still has GPS mount on headstock. Speedo etc is all in miles not kms.
Another distinguishing feature - the number plate is on a metal door hinge with one black bolt in the centre which causes it to tilt to one side. The black plastic rear mud guard (see pic one) has been removed as part of that.

I will definitely keep a look out, my eyes are perminantly attracted to ZZR's so if I spot one I'll definitely give it a good look over. The feeling of having a ZZR1100 taken away one way or another is NOT good!

That seriously sucks.
PM me your cell - as im most likely to see this thing on the road. And following will be pointless if i dont have anyone to contact.
And while i could run it off the road - this does nothing to help the bike.
Also a note to everyone out there - will most probably be black by now, so dont look for bikes a particular colour. My bike went through 3 stages of matt black/ gloss black/silver before the cops got it again.
However they usually dont sand so the paint job will flake off in parts.

Nah was hoping to get someone local. I guess i could try *555 and say he was speeding with no wof or reg. At least then they could setup a speed trap. But i have had a friend who had his bike stolen and parked just around the corner from the central station. 4 weeks the local plod walked past the bike, with the petrol cap ripped wide open.
It was the armed offenders that actually called in the plates - as they were raiding a local apartment.

Thats why i live there too (Beachhaven). It seems that scumbags dont shit in their own nests so its safer to stay in their hood than in the surrounding areas which are like convenience stores for thieves it seems and just a short stroll down the road.
i will keep my eyes open as i go to and from work. even though whoever did this is the scum of the earth, really they dont deserve to be another whole in the wall like the one already at the top of the hill. hopefully your bike is found way before anything else like that happens and its not damaged at all. my thoughts are with you Dan.

if you are in a car and you see Dans bike then *555 will work as long as you say you are following the stolen bike and you are going to hurt that sucker real bad when he stops and actually sound offensive to the *555 operator. If they are thinking that public safety is in danger they will send out all available police officers ASAP and probably a rolling road block to catch the jerk but if you just say something like 'hey this guy on an internet forum has had his bike stolen and i am watching it ride past me' they will do almost nothing. the jerk who stole the bike needs a good beating no questions asked however the police are busy people and traffic offenses are i imagine low on their priority list. however if the cops think that justice is going to be served by someone other than themselves they will try and stop the guy quicker than you can say 'some assholes riding a stolen bike past me'

Although zeocen (and, I'm sure, gijoe1313) will keep their eyes open down our way, I will too. Hope all turns out well for you. The thought of having my girl stolen stops me from taking her heaps more places than i would otherwise. The fact that two-legged humanoid dog shit personages who steal bikes (or damage them just for their amusement) basically force me to use my car on occasions when I'd much rather take my bike really annoys me. Insurance or no, it still sucks. Keep us all informed!

Cheers everyone for the support - reading all your well wishing comments has been really helpful.
I feel like I have lost an arm or a leg - my manager at work thought I was crazy when I joked about bereavement leave... :crybaby:
Our bikes really do become a part of us - non-bikers really cannot understand that.
Thanks again everyone - I will keep you all posted on any developments.
Believe me, if I catch the fucker I will be taking a severed hand down to the trophy shop to get mounted.
I have a few options if my baby is not returned - I will be riding again soon and the "which bike" thread will hopefully not be far away...

Sorry to hear about your bike.....Hope it gets located, and the thief punished...
Is not a nice feeling at all.. While I was living in Aucks, my Clubsport V8 was stolen from me. I was literally sick to my stomach for about a week. Felt totally violated. Good thing was I got it back around 9 months later, and the original offender got some jail time.... Vehicle was found cause he ran a red light and was stopped by the police, who did a check...dodgy plates, and long story short, got the car back and he got a cell mate...:)
So fingers crossed your bike reappears at some stage.......

We all look up and identify the bikes we see on the road and give 'the nod'.
With this number of open eyes on the case, if the bike is out and about with whatever No. Plate it now has, it will get spotted.
My new bike will have one of those new remote paging alarms and a remote locator. May be a false sense of security, but with out any sense of security I just wouldn't risk having an expensive bike.
DD we all want you to get your bike back. Good luck.

I don't want to get your hopes up, but I'm pretty sure I saw this bike on Thursday afternoon northbound on the southern at about 2pm exiting at Papatoetoe, with a pillion. I remember registration because it's similar to my mates ZX12R with the 8 and the U (his is double U). In which case it's in use on the road and might well get picked up (especially given the way it was being ridden).
Didn't you used to live in Manurewa?

He said he would ride it up for me - then I have not really had a chance to get hold of any KB'er in the area to go take a look just in case there is nothing major wrong with it.
