View Full Version : How do I make my screen display sideways?
Steam

I'm lying on my side in bed feeling really sick (chicken?) and I want to read KB, but I can't read sideways.
I've poked around in the Control Panel, under Display, but I can't find anything to make it display everything sideways.

push the monitor over?
It's a laptop, and I can't put it on the side without great inconvenience.
That was a good idea though.

Got a usb keyboard and mouse? if so push it on its side so it sits like a V.
I used to do it to my laptop all the time to help cooling (it ran 24/7).
Of course no external mouse and keyboard your f'ed

Fairly easy to do under linux, just use xrandr. However I've only seen this feature under Windows with specific graphics card drivers -- such as the nVidia extensions (in Display Settings). I think AMD/ATI have something similar too.
On a laptop you've probably got some sort of delightful Intel integrated graphics card, so under Windows you probably can't do that unless there's some sort of third-party option.

It's Otago Anniversary Day, and there's no work for a lot of businesses.
My luck to get sick on the long weekend!
Thanks all, sounds like I should just sit up and shut up, windows ain't gonna do it.

Maybe it was toxic honey. Some hippy is selling it in the Coromandal.

Depends on the brand of video chips, drivers and the operating system.
Check out the video adapter via the control panel /settings / advanced and then do a check on the manufacturers site. There may be a utility you can download that will do it eg ATI drivers for IBM Stinkpads etc.
