View Full Version : The Ridiest rider I know

I've been a part of Kiwibiker for awhile now, and I've met a lot of people through this place. There are good people and bad wherever you go and this place is no exception. I've had the pleasure of riding with a few of them too. I am unashamed to say I have a lot to learn, but thankful there are so many good people to learn from. There's a lot to learn too. All the good stuff like cornering, and throttle control, and weight distribution but one of the best things I've learnt is, to ride. Just for the joy of riding.
Who's the Ridiest rider (thanks for the phrase Unit) I know? GI Joe1313 - Justin. Chances are you'll see him one day soon. He's covered something like 97,000 kilometres in the last year. On a 250. This guy epitomises riding for pleasure. I've never seen him with out a ready smile, or too far from his bike. He snores like a freight train full of chainsaws (that's probably why he rides instead of sleeping) and should never be given too much "V." He has one of the best attitudes to biking I've ever come across. My personal favourite experience with him? When he turned up to my Mum's place with a packet of chicken wings and couldn't leave because the coppers decided to have a checkpoint across the road (He was still on his learners or restricted or something - after 10:30pm) so we sat on the deck and talked shite while eating chicken wings. I could see he was itching to get back on his bike and ride. He did after they'd left - went to Northland or Taranaki or something before arriving at the Busa's place the next day to celebrate New Years!
I don't know anyone who has ridden more. The best thing is what he's taught me. Ride because you like it. Cheers to GI Joe1313 "The Ridiest rider I know"

:o :innocent::shutup::shifty::confused::pinch: :eek5: ......... jeez ...... thats the last time I get colapop to convince me to ride back up to see him! I'm trying to be incognito!
Just trying to make up for all those lost years when I wasn't riding! Mutter mumble mutter ... and trying to collect as many bikes as I can in the interim ... rhubarb rhubarb ... and meeting as many kewl peeps as I can ... gnash gnash ... and trying to keep it all rubber side down ow ... burp burp ...
I'm going back to teaching my kids how not to swallow their erasers and reminding them that once they leave, they can be arrested for their usual behaviours! :innocent:

There's no stopping it now !!!

gijoe1313 gets my vote too. Whether it's telling me to come for a ride, for an ice cream to Hamilton, or getting me to go for a ride with him to eat weird asian shit, it's always riding.
He also rides so much that he forgets to put gas in his bikes.
>>>>>VIDEO EVIDENCE<<<<<
Upon ending a nice ride around the Maraetai loop, a certain camo ninja was far too excited to go for a ride on the working-again 2 smoker, that he forgot to top up with gas. (Watch the end for proof!!!)
<div><embed src="http://www.livevideo.com/flvplayer/embed/3EFACAC40C23441B89DB04837D61651E" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" quality="high" WIDTH="445" HEIGHT="369" wmode="transparent"></embed><br/><a href="http://www.livevideo.com/video/embedLink/3EFACAC40C23441B89DB04837D61651E/462411/1100-pt-4-final-part-gas-.aspx">1100 pt.4 - Final part, gas.</a></div>
EVIDENCE PART TWO
The same certain camo ninja pushed me onto his a100 while I video logged the ride, only to find out a minute or so up the road, that it has no gas in it!!! I push it back to his house dripping in sweat, welcomed by a gijoe1313 and a jeaves laughing their asses off.

However, despite his short comings (:wari:) he is a great friend and one I truly value, will always go the extra mile (usually on his bike) for anyone. A top bloke and definitely the ridiest of riders!

And I think there are some KBers who have done as many kms as that on their chew fiddies (ok albeit not in 1 year :innocent:) I'm aspiring to the heights that guys like Mr Merde have done ... massive milage, which leaves even me :gob:
Anyway, any excuse for a ride I say ... and damn, reading this thread just wants me to ride Pippi out the front gates of school and see what the pies are like in Raetihi!

Yeop, hes a keen one that GI.
I remember one of the first 250 coro loops i did, Gijoe was coming but decided to do the loop the day before aswell!!!
One of the few riders i know of that are more concerned about enjoying the ride than their chicken strips, speed etc.
Keep it up.

It is well you are not a maths teacher!! Add to the 85,000 you admit to the k's you've done on other bikes... and your stated dersire to run the ol' hornet to get her back to 21,000k's... and there you have it folks!! He will achieve over 100,000 klicks before too long I'm sure...

Argh ... must not analyse ... must not analyse .... no... I can't help myself:
70000km on a Hornet @ ummmm, 25km/l? so...
70000 divided by 25 = 2800 litres. Umm litres cost oooh lets average it at $1.60 per litre over the year so...
2800 litres @ $1.60 = $4480 for a fuel bill for the year for the Hornet. That's more than I'd get for my bike now if I sold it privately.
Ooh, and as an afterthought ... 70000 km div by 365 days in a year = 191km per day.
(Can you guess who was analysing financial reports today?)

yep, lots of respect to justin, i try'd to aim to do his ammount of k's per week and i was keeping up untill i ran out of money! maybe if i downgrade my mc22 to a somthing with better economy (fuel and tyres) maybe a cb250r? i was doing 500km/week but if justin did 97 000k in 1 year, he'd be averaging 1865km/week. thats just pure crazy yo. yet so awesome. always there to help no matter what.

surely not.... thats something like $8000 isn't it ? excluding chains and sprockets, oil etc

Another way of looking at this is not to think of the cost of gas, but what about the time involved? What average speed would GI run at including through towns etc?
If you ran those sums I reckon you'd find he's riding an average of close to a quarter of the daylight hours he sees during the year - that is a big chunk of year I reckon

Its just a misbegotten way to ride away from any marriage plans in store for me! If an asian biker babe catches up with me, I guess I'm a goneburger :o
it takes me 5 minutes to ride to school ... when I leave those hallowed halls of mislearning, I turn those wheels and my little ol'hornet or Daisy is very reluctant to return back home...
So usually 3 hours later I end up home via Whangarei or Hamilton! :innocent: Other days I will ride to Port Waikato and then decide to see what the weather is like on the Coro loop side.
Other days I have ridden out of the gates, and ridden around the clock to literally ride back in the gates I left previously!
But my usual thing is an ice-cream in the 'Tron, subways in Whangarei, pizza in Kaitaia, dinner (not often enough!) in Wellington. With me, its just ... "one more tank of gas..." or "wonder whats over the other side of that mountain (Three sisters)" or ".... whats Gisborne like where James Cook landed" or "....riding to buy a Magazine from Slyvia Park...heck, keep riding onto Cape Reinga"
Thats usually how my mind works... and as for the dosh spent on it? Heck, you're talking to a guy who dropped $4K on little model tanks and soldiers!
Only $8k on fuel? I say not enough! $16K on fuel for a year would be my idea of riding nirvana!
I guess I just have this burning passion inside which gets me to swing my leg over the saddle, fire up the little ol'hornet, point his tyres in a direction somewhere... and with a small twist of the wrist, I pootle to parts unknown, over the hills and far away....
Damn... I want to go for a ride now...

Poor little yellow guy, he had his own account on KB, but it was terminated and he went into a little huff for a while. However with cute little Pippi on the scene now, Pikachu sure wants to go riding again!
Also, Pikachu didn't like how the little ol'hornet was leaving black soot streaks over him from the zorst and the road film thrown up by the rear wheel!

And yet, through all his riding, he's still managed to happily hold down his full time job, and busily post away on KB keeping us all entertained with his stories and strange ways of warping the English language to suit whichever whim he's chosen to intone...
I think for me though, even past all the many kays of riding and seeing the country, it's GiJoe's positive attitude about everything (but especially riding) which makes him the kind of guy we all want to go for a ride with. Heck, I love riding too, but I don't think I'd end up doing half the distance in a year you've done, Justin. Hat is off to you bud, hope to catch you down here sometime. :niceone:

Totally agree with everybodies comments and think that GIJOE is a f'in legend and the few/couple of times I have met him has been a great guy, (Please continue the "tribute" to GIJOE, he deserves it) but !!!!!
Is no-one going to argue the point, does no-one know of anyone either present or past to rival Justin and his adventures, and if not does that for the first time (since Ive been around which aint long) mean KB consensus and make GIJOE the... "Undisputed" :first: ridiest rider.....

Next time I come down, I'll bring chicken wings and a baseball bat to sort you out! (Wait...more like an elephant rifle...)
:Oi: That'll be enough of the fat jokes buddy! Just bring the chicken wings and there won't be any trouble...
Your arse must be like leather...
Are you volunteering to find out??? :buggerd: Coz I sure as hell aint going anywhere near it!

I'd watch out Cola! If I decide to nip up this a100 he said he will fly down and ride it back up, I said he can go wherever he likes on it, even the opposite direction, he might be there sooner than you think! (or later, being an a100 and all..)
I just know I'm going to get a pxt of the poor bike up to it's skirt in Lake Tekapo or something.

Mate, how much fines have you racked up over the year? I'm curious.
I live in Wellington, hopefully getting a bike next year. All the best

My gawd, a thread dredge and I'm responding to it! :pinch: Knock on wood, no fines ... because I ride like a nana and I make sure I do my darn hardest not to do stupid stuff (heavens know I do enough of it already!)
In fact, I've had more fines in my car than the bike! Go figger
And all the best of finding your two wheels of freedom, always good to hear of others making the choice to getting on two wheels!

Did one of those badge ride things where they give a badge at the end of it or something. Had a tank mounted camera , was gettin stuff of the ride and followed this dude in the red camo on a Hornet, no problem then decided to get more stuff of the the others. WTF he was going home to change bikes and had no idea where I was. We were by ourselves. That was the first time I met the little fucker. He's a legend that many could learn from. :first:

Surely the Boba Fett missile pack attracts some unwanted legal attention, particularly around the nation's airports?

Hey! I'm glad this thread was dredged, cos I seem to have missed it, even though it mentions Raetihi pies! (they have to be from Clowns cafe by the way).
Update though, apparently the ones from Angor Wat (sp) in Waiouru, first cafe on the main road on the left if you are coming from the South, (opposite the Army musuem) are similar, so if you are stuck on Highway 1, look out for them.
ConLucyious say: He who ride bike for long distance, need good pies.

That Mr Col was an infamous Colapop monster who was responsible for many shennanigans and molstermating of young, asian guys with too many gadgets ... also his impressive size and displays of "bull in a china shop" syndrome was espied many times!
Like a myth, the Colapop monster is now in the shrouds of obscurity and only rises to the surface from old threads!
A Jerkyl and Hyde thing I reckons! ;)

:weep: Stuck at school with the inmates, I think I should become a relief teacher next year and just ride bikes as my main occupation :innocent:
When I get a far away look in my eye, my students often pipe up "Sir, are you dreaming of riding your motorbike(s) again?"
They're use to that ... and me surfing KB when they are underachieving in class  I should do a special module next year ... "Restoring old motorcycles to working death machines"
Watching them bin it in the carpark would provide me with endless hours of mirth... :devil2: "Ooh road rash ... gotta hurt, might impress the ladies"

Shrouded in the mists of the past... Sounds like this monster was as of such a stature to rival all that came before... A myth indeed...
